Re: What comics did you buy today?

Just taken delivery of Judge Child Books 2 and 3, from Titan Books, published back in the eighties. Some classic Judge Dredd action, there, with some lovely art by Ron Smith and Mike McMahon.

Re: Kevin O'Neill

Kev's death was reported on November 7th, but it was stated at the time that he actually died the previous week. No actual date has been given as far as I know. He actually worked on several of the IPC humour titles before going to 2000 AD. He started his career as an office boy in the Buster office...

Tom Palmer RIP

Tom Palmer, the veteran American comics artist who inked several of the original Captain Britain stories for Marvel UK, died on 18th August aged 81. He was probably best known as the inker of the entire run of Marvel's Tomb of Dracula, penciled by Gene Colan, and on a classic eighties run of The Ave...

Neal Adams dead at 80

American, not British, I know, but Neal Adams was nonetheless an important figure in the history of comics and a hugely influential artist, as well as a pioneer in championing creators rights. Sadly, it's being reported that he died yesterday aged 80, from complications from sepsis. A sad loss to th...

Re: Our Colin (aka colcool007)

it really is in the last 14 months that "death" has touched me with great poignance. I've lost grandparents and relatives but none really ever touched me. Then, i lost my faithful dog of 14 years that greatly touched me (believe it or not!) Not really sure why we wouldn't believe that, Geoff. I los...

Re: Our Colin (aka colcool007)

just learnt that col has died... so devastating to hear! Though we never met personally, we had a good few exchanges through this website to the extent that we shared a mutual respect and fondness for each other. I'll share an episode between us that no one knows... not even col. Once, he was champ...

Re: Our Colin (aka colcool007)

Re: Our Colin (aka colcool007)

I watched the service. Thought it went fairly well, though only Colin would have picked the Ying Tong Song as the opening music to his own funeral. A joker to the last.

Re: Our Colin (aka colcool007)

Colin was very close to a complete set of unique Commando stories. I’m not quite sure whether he got there, but it was very close - of course, he aspired to a complete set of Commando issues, including reprints. Another of the kind people in comics gone. Colin had actually completed his Commando co...

Just seen online that Terrance Dicks passed away last week.
Very sad news. Terrance probably did more to inspire British kids in the seventies and eighties to read books than any other author.

Re: Does your partner have any interest in your comics?

My wife is a huge comics fan. Mostly American (in fact, mostly DC Comics) but she is also possibly the world's biggest 2000 AD fan. Her mental storehouse of 2000 AD trivia puts mine to shame.

Re: Titan cancels DC line

Since that line seemed to be Titan's bread and butter, I can only assume DC pulled the licence. But why? Did they want too much money for Titan to pay, this time? Are they planning a new reprint line of their own? Or are they just anticipating problems after Brexit? It has to be bad news for Titan, ...
