Re: Help Needed please

I wondered why I had'nt seen any on the shelves in the Southend store recently. Pretty poor excuse for not stocking a title but then I find that most management at these stores dont have much of a clue on running a business. The magazine section is in a constant state of disarray, issues being misse...

Re: Commando art

I've just been reading some of the posts relating to the 40th anniversary of the publishing of Ian Kennedy's first Commando work over on the Commando site. One that caught my attention was from an individual who states that he has the original art to Ian's first cover "Seek and strike" that has just...

Re: Unique Comic Collectibles

Thanks for the info, that gives me a bit of reassurance for ordering. I cant help thinking though that it would have been a good idea to at least remove the text relating to the February sale before opening the site to traffic again as it will almost certainly have put people off ordering unless lik...

Unique Comic Collectibles

Has anyone had any dealings with these people ? The reason I ask is that they are doing "Fine art prints" of some of the Commando covers and as there are some Ian Kenndy & JMG works amongst them I am interested in possibly purchasing one or two. Whats putting me off though is that the website went o...

Re: Isnt it about time we had a Commando art exhibition ?

Here's a link to info with pictures of original art etc..... http://www.dundee.ac.uk/museum/starblazer2.htm In one of the reviews of the event Mr K was quoted as saying that he would like to "take a couple of pieces of the art home with him", and he painted them...., its nice to see that he still ha...

Isnt it about time we had a Commando art exhibition ?

The title says it all really, being as there is this fabled warehouse full of the original art why not put some of it into an exhibition in a similar manner to the "Starblazer" exhibition that was held earlier this year in Dundee. With next year being the 70th anniversary of the battle of Britain th...

Same cover, different cover...

Whilst looking on a certain auction web site I noticed that issues 206 & 843 were up for bids. This is the story called "Fighter ace", 206 being the original publication whilst 843 is the reprint. What immediately struck me was that the cover art to 843 whilst being the same had been rotated counter...

Re: Commando art

I did speak to IK about a separate commission, but as far as he is concerned, it would take something special for him to do anything above and beyond his current commitment to Commando. And the price would be another stumbling block. I wince at that thought, but do wish that I had the money availab...

Re: Commando art

Colin, you must give sage and me credit for a certain amount of common sense. Dundee at night is an irrelevance as far as our scenario is concerned. Sage would have had to make his approach in daylight. Commando CO just isn't the kind of guy to take chances in any town in the dark where people gett...

Re: Commando art

Thanks for all the input so far guys, it's been very enlightening. I think I might try contacting DCT as there are a few Ian Kennedy covers that I would like to own full size (if only the original art was on the market). I have a couple of pages of his B/W art from "Real War" but I would kill for an...

Commando art

Hi all, newbie here with my first post. Its a question for Commando CO when he next visits these pages. With the discovery a few years ago of a cache of original art from the IPC war comics I have been wondering what is the situation with regard to all the Commando art produced over the years ? I kn...
