Re: Identify the artist!
I didn't draw the Match Weekly football strip "Cannon" for the first eight episodes. That was Steve McGarry. He referenced all his drawings from the "Fairburn System of Visual Reference" (a series of photobooks that were supposed to provide reference for artists) so it was easy for me to pick up on ...

Re: uploading problem
Yes......... Glad it's now sorted. I felt sure the problem wasn't my end, when I had such difficulty loading pages for that Judy Comic thread.
I'm still getting problems in negotiating your site though. I keep getting a note telling me there's a "fast CGI" problem. I just got it now and it tells me ...

".....I've noticed that some artists leave a space.... in anticipation of the lettering."
Yes. I once ,made the mistake of doing that on a strip I drew for DCThomson. The letterer just ignored the spaces I'd left, and stuck the balloons over drawn areas. The pages ended up looking very empty, with ...

"Ah, good, you've got the attachments working now"
Yes. Your site seems to be a bit oversensitive when faced with Safari running on a Mac OSX. It's a lot easier using Firefox

Here are a story about twins reunited, and the WW2 story featuring the Irish girl - I've found the title of that one now - it was "The Fifth Swan Child

Well, here's what I believe to be the title panel for a science-fiction story; it ran to several episodes, I think. But can't remember the name. I did quite a few short stories too, but can't recall the titles. Other series I did were "Black Jack the ...

Re: DCThomson's Judy Comic late 1970s/early 1980s
OK....... I'll try uploading the pages again. These are, as I said, from Judy Comic - late 1970s I think.
The first is a story about twins - one of them evil and the other not
The second is about an Irish girl in WW2 France, involving legends about swans
The third is a story that I believe I only ...

Re: DCThomson's Judy Comic late 1970s/early 1980s
I've just seen that the pictures I scanned in aren't showing up. Obviously something I'm not doing right. It looked as though it was scanning in OK but..... well, as you see.....
Help anyone?

Hmmm, I don't know the protocols here, but I suspect this would be best under a new thread in Comics Tiles
Hope it's OK if I start a new thread there.
Thanks for your interest. I'll be very interested to hear what you come up with

Re: Best place to ask about War/Battle Picture Library stories?
If you don't know the title, perhaps you can identify the artist who drew it - that way there'll be people who can list all the titles that artist drew. Failing that, do you have the title of any other title the artist did? If so you could post a scan of that artwork, then there'll be someone who ...

Wow! That was quick! I thought my enquiry might be to obscure to interest anyone.
I only have a few photocopies of original artwork pages - the art had to be drawn twice-up (ie four times the area of the printed page) so getting photocopies was expensive as each sheet required two A3 sheets of ...

DCThomson's Judy Comic late 1970s/early 1980s
I've been asked to compile a list of all the strips I've drawn.
I started drawing comics in the latter half of the 1970s through Bardon Press Features, and drew a lot of stuff for the boys' title Hotspur and several of their girls' titles including (mostly) Judy I believe. I only have a few issues ...
