Re: What comics did you buy today?

The first nursery programme I remember is the Pingwings which may have been Oliver Postgate's first TV series. Also enjoyed the Telegoons at Saturday tea time. Which also reminds me of waiting at the newsagents around 6pm on Saturdays for the classified Evening News for my dad. I have a soft spot fo...

Re: Tiger - how many issues?

Grand Comics Database has every Tiger cover apart from four issues in April & May 1965. If anyone could put them on it would make them happy.

Re: ComicScene 'Old School' Hardback Annual 2021

I've never heard of any of the characters so I don't think "old school" is the correct term to use.

Re: Jackpot Annual 1982 Christmas Cover Art

According to wiki he wasn't allowed to sign his initials until 1947 so perhaps my art predates that.

Pleased he shares my dislike of the modern 'cartoony' artwork.

Re: Ebay - you want how much for it???

I collected the Great Newspapers Reprinted series in the seventies but the Jack the Ripper reprint of five issues of Police News eluded me until about ten years ago when I came across a copy in Greenwich and paid about £1 for it. This seller has removed the wraparound cover and charged a bit more. h...

Re: Vintage Pre-War Beano & Dandy Comics

Wow that was quick. Thanks. I have to say I'm enjoying indexing British stuff onto GCD. I find Thorpe and Porter type annuals on eBay and sometimes they show the contents page and away I go. With regard to cover images I learned early in that if your image isn't perfect you should tick the "mark for...

Re: Vintage Pre-War Beano & Dandy Comics

Al, perhaps you could oblige by putting those covers onto the Grand Comics Database. I'm going to out those two Beanos on if Into the Abyss doesn't mind.

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Some people think if it's an old comic it must be worth a fortune. While you're here, Derek, I just got back from Deptford flea market where I saw an Adventure Book For Girls. I always think of you working on your latest book when I see something of that ilk. They had a Sports Book for Girls too.

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Another seller had well read issues of Warlord, Spike, The Crunch and Buddy at £15 a copy which I resisted.
