Re: What are you reading during the lockdown

I think they were in issues 1452 to 1460. Trevor is still drawing comics according to his website. Now that tinypic has closed I don't know how to add images.

Re: Dick Turpin

I have a vague memory of it being in Knockout. My mate, Steve, says he thinks it started in Sun and moved to Knockout. Did Knockout absorb Sun?

Re: What are you reading during the lockdown

I'm still going through the 300 real western magazines I bought a few months back. Also I've been going onto Grand Comics Database and indexing some issues. First issues of Goofy, Donald and Mickey, Cracker and Little Star so far. Went through some Dandys yesterday and found a strip called Babes n B...

Re: SPARKY "Writers"

I met Ian Chisholm a couple of times in the Fleet Street office in the mid seventies and found him to be a very affable bloke.

Re: What comics DIDN'T you buy today?

No comics but I did pick up 61 free gift football cards for £2. They were free gifts with the Hornet and Hotspur. I emailed my mate Steve to ask which issues they came with. He has Derek's free gifts book but Steve informed me it doesn't cover the Hornet and New Hotspur. Luckily Steve was able to ge...

Re: Penny Dreadfuls

It's probably not important. It's just that I came across an article in one of my sixties wild west magazines about the Beadles dime novels which are probably the American version of Penny Dreadfuls but I see they are well enough covered on Wikipedia. Reading the wiki page I notice some stories are ...

Re: Your FIRST Ever Favourite Comic Character/Strip

My mate Steve grew up in Hackney and only last week mentioned buying comics from a stall in Broadway market. I think my first favourite strip was the Daleks on the back cover of TV Century 21. The rust cloud story stays in my memory and the one with some Daleks rebelling and wearing flowers. True!

Re: British / American Comics in China

36 is the cover of Don Winslow of the Navy 18 published by Fawcett in August 1944. If you press and hold an image Google will search for similar images online. It didn't show that exact image but did come up with some other Don Winslows. I then checked the cover gallery on Grand Comics Database for ...

Re: Looking for Bash Street/Beano story
