Re: What comics did you buy today?
Went to Argos Old Kent Road yesterday and picked up a click and collect parcel of 40 mid 70s Busters plus the 1974 Summer Special. Although I've stopped collecting I bought them off ebay just because I'm very fond of the title and there's lots of Baxendale in them. Despite it being my 4th visit to t...

Re: JNP codes - an incomplete list
I asked former Tiger and Roy of the Rovers editor Barrie Tomlinson about this on X and this is his reply, you probably already knew this but he's on X if you want to ask him any more details. He always replies to my tweets so is quite affable. Yes. Every new comic was given a JNP number. The thinkin...

Re: Doctor Who on U&Eden channel
Must admit, watching these Pertwee Doctor Whos, every story features The Master. Couldn't stand him first time round. Same goes for Davros. There was a bloke on Radio 5 live this week talking about Doctor Who. He said the Daleks were their own masters until Davros came along at which point they beca...

Re: Not just any old East London pie and mash shop
I was in Lewisham yesterday and poked my head into Something Fishy to check their price list. Pie, mash and liquor £8.50. Astonishing. About £3 more than other pie houses. The liquor itself was £2.

Re: Talking Pictures TV
It wasn't shown in the UK during its original transmission, same goes for Black Saddle which TPTV also shows. Talking Pictures have acquired the rights to a lot of Four Star produced shows. You should check out Wanted Dead or Alive on Great Action. Steve McQueen western series where he uses his famo...

Re: Not just any old East London pie and mash shop
To be honest my one peeve with minced beef pies is bits of gristle which turns my stomach so I'm tempted to try a veggie pie. Actually when I used Cooke's pie and mash shop in the Cut at Waterloo in the 70s they used soya mince in their pies and they tasted just as nice. I now buy vegan frozen saus...

GRAND COMICS DATABASE
Does anybody here index comics on thr GCD? They had an upgrade last week and I now find the site unrecognisable with its new format. I'm wondering if it's actually my tablet not processing it properly but my mobile phone shows the same layout. I'm also unable to find the home page. It's almost like ...

Re: Not just any old East London pie and mash shop
Yes they do fruit pies with custard as well and have lots of tourist customers asking "what's that green stuff?" One drawback with Goddards is the mash is served using ice cream scoops whereas traditionally it should be scraped onto the plate with a spatula.

They didn't show the final episode which was the Monkees playing a live gig. Nice to see Julie "Catwoman" Newmar in one of the later episodes.

Re: Not just any old East London pie and mash shop
My local Manzes in Deptford High Street closed at the end of January after more than 100 years. I'll now have to use Goddards in nearby Greenwich. But the 199 bus goes from my door to their door.
