Re: A question regarding The Hotspur Volume 1

I didn't think it was still around in the seventies. With magazines like Boys Own you'd not only get the index but extra full colour plates.

Re: FAVOURITE FOOTBALL COMIC/MAGAZINE?

I have hundreds of Shoots but Scorcher and Score 'n' Roar are my favourites. Latter didn't last long enough though. Dropped the "two comics in one" format too quickly.

Re: Talking Pictures TV

Sunday 9th June episode of Footage Detectives saw them waxing lyrical over Wham!, thecomic that is. It's on season 2, episode 126, which should be viewable at https://www.tptvencore.co.uk/Playlist/Footage-Detectives?id=1ce12be2-3de3-4c50-a784-a8ceb1083fb0 Tried to watch but you have to have an acco...

Re: Talking Pictures TV

Space Patrol coming to talking pictures tv in June. I watched it as a kid in the early sixties. A crude puppet show but enjoyable. I've never forgotten the Martian always saying "I'm hungry" and Slim the Venusian replying "you're always thinking of your stomach". Roberta Leigh (producer of this sho...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Not comics but on Tuesday at Kempton Park Antiques Fair I picked up 66 issues of Soccer Star weekly magazine dated between 1956 and 1962 for £22. Seller wanted £1 for three issues. I put the £22 in his hand before he could say "just give me £20" as they were bargain enough. I also got four 60s dc co...

Re: A question regarding The Hotspur Volume 1

In those days you could buy a binder and an index for your magazines and comics. An index would be no good if it had 26 of the same page number to refer to so the numbering ran from page 1 to page whatever was the last page after six months.

Re: Comics on TV

On Cash in the Attic now being rerun on Challenge TV a family had this Korky the Cat original art. It doesn't look like Charles Grigg's work. Apologies for poor scan but they were panning down the artwork making it blurred. Is it possible to add a link to a few seconds of video? The artwork sold for...

Re: Talking Pictures TV

Agree. I'd never heard of Mr. Winkle Goes to War before but have recently watched it three times on Talking Pictures TV. It stars Edward G. Robinson in a light hearted role. A wonderful film.

Re: What comics did you buy today?

I came across complete years for The Topper of 1975 and 1976 which I'll put on ebay soon. All in VG to NM condition as I bought them when published. I no doubt have complete years for Beezer, Beano and Dandy 1975 and 1976, it's just a question of digging them out of storage.

Re: IPC Barbie comics from the 1980s

I came across Barbie no. 1 from 1985 today but the free gift bangle is in a separate bag with loads of other comic free gifts. I found a pink tubular plastic bangle, would that be the correct fee gift for this comic?

Phoenix could help but he has been absent from these pages for well over a year. Is anyone in contact with him?

Re: Trying to remember British comic series from 1959-1961 with story about giant spine throwing cacti

You mention Hotspur and Wizard but then say Eagle is closest to the look. I can only think of Boys' World which looked like The Eagle and published fantasy stories. The first issue was published in January 1963. And a December 1963 cover mentions a Tree of Terror story inside. (information from cove...
