Re: roland davies
I gather from comments made by the late Roger Perry, that he tried to use Roland Davies quite a bit, and commissioned him for the two New Adventures of Huck Finn storybooks published in the late 60s by Century 21 Publishing, as they required a mix of realistic art for the live action stars, while al...

Re: Tumblr of Original UK Comic Art
Lovely stuff - thanks for the link! I'd guess that the bulk of this artwork was purchased from the Hansen collection via Phil Clark. I've got quite a lot of similar pieces for which I really ought to set up a gallery of my own. Phil, you could use Comic Art Fans, as I do? Free to join, with control...

Re: Can anyone help identify this artwork?
I'm inclined to say the proportions are wrong for a pocket library, and comic artwork is usually marked up in someway so the printers knew which title and issue it was for. That said, it doesn't have bleed or crop marks, which a full page cover art would have, so that gives the impression it's been ...

Star trek Animated Scripts
I'm quite a fan of the Animated Series, and have been trying to obtain the scripts for the episodes. I've amassed a decent collection but some still evade me, so does anyone here have access to any? I'm not listing what I need, as it may be you have drafts which differ from those I have, and I'd lik...

Re: Postgate and Firmin
While Bill Mevin drew the Pogles strip in Pippin from the first issue Firmin did produce some original drawings for that title. He also drew the Ivor strip for TV Land and a series of superb Noggin the Nog tableaux for Playland that were later collected in the book 'Nogmania'. I'm very much of the ...

Re: Postgate and Firmin
Of course there were times when Peter Firmin was kept busy with work outside his partnership with Oliver Postgate - notably on the hugely successful Basil Brush: a character he designed independently in 1962. Strangely, aside from some 'Starting to Read' books, I don't recall Peter Firmin illustrat...

Re: Postgate and Firmin
Did Peter Firmin draw those strips originally? My solitary issue of Pippin from 1969 has Bill Mevin drawing the Pogles. (A good choice, because his art is similar to Firmin's, though not as stylishly "flat".) I think the annuals always used Peter Firmin art, as he and Oliver Postgate put them toget...

Re: Sparky Annual 1970s Sci-Fi strip?
Hi Kashgar,
It has been suggested the artist is Brian Lewis, a well-known and admired illustrator, who sadly died shortly after this. It may be among the few strips he did for DCT, and we are looking for a scan to confirm it is indeed his work.
Many thanks,
Shaqui

Sparky Annual 1970s Sci-Fi strip?
Are there any Sparky fans out there with the 70s annuals that know of a sci-fi strip where in the last frames, the aliens are revealed to be bird-like when they remove their space helmets (or similar)? I'm told it was a Sparky annual but it could be another DCT title. Any help (and pictures, as we w...
