Re: What comics did you buy today?

A little off topic perhaps but I’m spending some time in Australia (maybe about a year), does anybody know any good spots to check out for comics? I’m in Melbourne but I’ll be visiting Sydney. Thanks!

Re: Complete Collections

Wow that's an amazing collection Kashgar... do you ever let people over to have a look? Lol Lots of cool collections here actually. The only complete collection I have is Nipper, which was only 16 issues, plus one special and one annual.I have decent runs of a few others though, including Jackpot, W...

I have finally completed my set of Willy the Kid badges that I've been after for quite a while. My only question - what order did they come in?? :?:

Re: Vintage signs and banners

I've also come across these tin signs. One for Film Fun featuring Laurel and Hardy from the early 1950s, and one for Comet.

Re: Vintage signs and banners

Thanks for sharing :)

I seem to remember Compal Comics selling a bunch of advertising stuff for Buster comic #1 from 1960. Does anyone remember this/have the images saved?

Vintage signs and banners

I've come across a few vintage advertising signs for comics over the past few days, which have caught my interest. I love anything like this that relates to the history of comics, and I've absolutely fallen in love with the old tin signs. I posted a couple of photos on my blog, link below. But I wan...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

That is a beautiful cover of Jackpot @intotheabyss, I agree in that the logo does take away from the artwork a little bit. I've seen a few pieces of art for Fleetway front covers go up for sale in various places over the years, and it always looks great. It's a shame so much of it seems to have been...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Thought I'd share this recent purchase. As you are aware I normally collect & upload early Beano & Dandy issues from the 1940s and 30s, but my brother got me this christmas Beano no.1484 from 1970 as a surprise because of the iconic cover. And If my memory serves me correctly wasn't this issue vote...

Re: Collecting comics within a budget

Ah interesting. In my imagination I'd envisioned the UK as easy to buy old comics in 2nd hand shops! I suppose my knowledge is skewed by people on this forum only showing off their best finds...

Re: Collecting comics within a budget

I love the G G Swan comics! I've always been fascinated by them but have never seen any in real life sadly. I absolutely collect within a budget, for many years I called my comics the "pocky money collection" as everything was bought with pocket money. Naturally I'm a bit older now so no more pocket...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Just crossed off another of my want list, winning the Dandy No. 1000 from eBay. There were two auctions of No. 1000 today, but I won the first one. Interesting that The Beano seemed to celebrate these big numbers much more than The Dandy - Beano #1000 is a beauty to this day but I had to google Dan...

Monster Fun Returns!

For those of you who haven't yet seen the news, Rebellion have announced the return of Monster Fun starting in April next year with a new issue every 2 months. It definitely seems like a weird title to pick given its short run, I'm surprised they didn't choose Buster, Whizzer and Chips or Whoopee, b...

Favourite Title Panels

Just being reading issue two of Whizzer and Chips from 1969 and appreciating the title panels. Sure, most of them were reused every week of course, but not always. So my question is this: what are your favourite title panels? It could be one used every week or a special one-off. And of course, pleas...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Super happy with my find today! Found a 1953 (or 1952? who knows) Oor Wullie book for just $20 (NZD, so about £10). Sadly it appears to be bound into a hardcover with Oor Wullie written on the spine in gold lettering, but is otherwise plaim. I absolutely adore Dudley Watkins and love Oor Wullie with...
