Re: Phoenix's Future Plans

I grew up on Portland and now live in Weymouth, less than 7 miles away. I have to say that the night sky is amazing at times here, but nothing has compared to the Arizona desert when I visited some 20 years ago. The sheer amount of stars blew me away there, and has stayed with me still all these yea...

Re: Yvonne Hutton

Well, this is turning out to very interesting. As I said, I'm not too good with artist spotting, but I knew some of you are. It hadn't crossed my mind before that they wouldn't be by Yvonne. I will let her daughter know this. I think I have recounted this tale somewhere before, but she has told me t...

Re: Yvonne Hutton

Well I know from Yvonne's daughter that she illustrated Durrell's Palace for RoTR and the style is very different from the pictures I posted, so, looking at them again with my rookie eyes, I would say they are not by her. It is quite exciting, as soon as I get a free Saturday i will try and get as m...

Re: Yvonne Hutton

They were stored in a loft, Lew.
Yes, it is a shame, but apparently there are loads more so hopefully some of them will be in a better state. I really should get down there and have a dig through them. I will try and prioritise in over the coming weeks.

Re: Yvonne Hutton

Right
Got to grips with it now. Hope they look ok. There are loads more once I get time. I'm sure forum members with far more knowledge than me will recognise which comics these are from.

Re: Yvonne Hutton

Yvonne Hutton was the mother of a good friend of mine. As far as I know she did all the Daily Star strips. Tragically, she died in a car accident. Her Daughter has told me that she used to get her and her brother to pose like footballers so she could sketch them for her artwork. She also illustrated...

Re: Not just any old Amazon delivery rep.

Excellent service today from royal mail. My wife had a certificate delivered yesterday from Bournemouth University (she's the clever one in our house!). It needed to be signed for. When I got home from work yesterday one of our neighbours came out and gave it to me. This morning, we were walking the...

Re: collected

On the subject of fivers I recommend watching the Abbott and Costello two tens for a five sketch on youtube. I presume everyone here has watched their "who's on first". I have not seen those before. They are funny, funny sketches. I can see where Ronnie Barker got some of his ideas now. I can't bel...

Re: Not just any old Amazon delivery rep.

I have nothing against it, as long as it suits the employee. Although I think I would prefer my post to be delivered by someone in a marked vehicle and wearing some sort of uniform. There was a bit on the radio the other day, where delivery drivers were noticing people running from them as they drov...

Re: Not just any old Amazon delivery rep.

Well, I'm quite enjoying these comments. In my experience, the delivery guys round our way have been really good. However, where I work, I have noticed a definite increase in deliveries that seem to be coming from a random bloke, or woman, in a beaten up estate car with no uniform on and the back of...

Re: xmas 2017 prog

I've got 3 issues to read before the Xmas number. I had a flick through yesterday, looks good.
I really should set aside some time to read it during the week. Although I quite like bingeing on it. I find the stories easier to follow it I read a few weeks at a time.

Re: What comics did you buy today?

My copy of Faceache also had pages missing/duplicated. I received a new copy from Rebellion yesterday - great service. I wonder how many copies were bound incorrectly?

Re: Yvonne Hutton's RotR artwork in Daily Star newspaper

If it is of any help, Yvonne's son and daughter, who are close friends, think it is probably pre-Star. Looking at the strip and hairstyle, I would date it before then. I am no expert, but, when I get time I have been invited to view some of her original artwork, and she did have a habit of photograp...
