I do remember reading that Jon Pertwee's first season was the make or break season for Doctor Who. Also the writers had nothing to lose on revolutionising the show with earthbound stories. Thankfully the viewing figures picked up considerably and people loved the show's new format.
It also helped ...

Re: REWIND TV
I noticed a trailer on Rewind saying that the dire and weak BBC sitcom Game On was going to be repeated on the channel. Please no! They really must be scraping the barrel.

Re: REWIND TV
I remember watching The Fantastic Journey when it first came out on the BBC in 1977. Loved it then and enjoying it more so now (no parents to disrupt my viewing!). Do remember some of the later episodes not as good as Liana left suddenly; Katie Saylor suddenly bailed from the series for reasons ...

Re: REWIND TV
So the clubs I look for in the results include all the North East and West Midlands teams, Oxford, Man City, Bolton, Burnley, Blackpool, Oldham, Stockport, Leeds, Huddersfield and Notts County; I've walked outside Burnley's and Notts Cos grounds but not been to matches but have a soft spot for these ...

Re: REWIND TV
Sorry I'm late in replying to your question Steve (I've been busily distracted with things), but there are quite a few football teams I look out for.
The first match I attended was Brentford V Wolves at Griffin Park in 1992 (with my older sister and brother in law who's a Brentford fan), but it was ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Went to Manchester Comic Fair yesterday and netted 2 bargains: a 1975 Beano Summer Special from 1975 (I remember reading that back then) for £1 and a 1963 beano Annual for £2 (with lots of ace stuff from Leo Baxendale and Ken Reid (including Jonah).

Re: REWIND TV
Had a better day's viewing on Boxing Day mainly due to my DVDs:
Played festive episodes of Do Not Adjust Your Set (both shows, including pilot episode with wicked festive Rediffusion ident at the start), Maigret (with Rupert Davies), Stingray, Joe 90, The Avengers...then break for Final Score then ...

Re: DR WHO:WAR GAMES COLOURIZATION
The original War Games ending up originally as ten episodes due to some production problems. Some un-used ideas and scripts had to used up in a hurry, and writers Malcolm Hulke and Terrance Dicks were not even sure that Doctor Who would be returning. It was losing viewers badly and BBC were poised ...

Re: REWIND TV
The one Christmas day highlight as broadcast on the day for me, was an un-festive repeat of Department S on Rewind.
Did also see the festive episodes on Rising Damp, Some Mothers Do Ave Em, and Mr Bean on That's Tv channels on the day, but seen these many times before, though I never seem to tire ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Also via E Bay a few more editions of June Comic from 1971-72, filling some more gaps in my collections. All were job lot piles, so some may replace editions I've got in collection in a sorry condition. One pile came all the way from Australia, well worth it, beautiful conditions.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Been a bit late coming in, been so bust but my finds from last month:
I bought a run of Beane annuals from 1970- 76, bar 1972. The 76 one replaces an earlier edition which had pages of some strips missing. The one I got had 2 missing pages too, but these were for the Bash Street Kids puppets to cut ...

Re: REWIND TV
Yeah, I remember The Cut price Comedy show on CD when it launched and seeing big haired comedian Lenny Windsor popping up on TV shows during the 1980s. I recall LW being a contestant on TIV's Saturday Night talent show Search For A Star (where different ITV regions revealed their votes. I think one ...

Re: DR WHO:WAR GAMES COLOURIZATION
Saw this and loved this. Colour works so well and much more watchable in shortened form than the epic 10 episode adventure originally shown in 1969 monochrome.
