Re: What did you get for Christmas?
Doug, I really must encourage you to start a thread listing out not only your Top 10 hard to finds now secured but also what Holy Grail and others still remain illusive. It would be a fascinating read.

Re: Bully Beef & Chips
Hi Yekal - What was your Uncle’s name as I’m sure we’d all like to honour him.
Personally I haven’t seen a single page but that’s probably because DC Thomson tightly guard their art vault, limiting what is out there.
I do dream of the day when they relax that.

Re: Beano expansion
No harm in thinking big! The subtle remoulding of Dennis from Menace to Boisterous Adventurer in recent years has now given him clear space away from Horrid Henry who successfully pinched that crown last decade. At that time I found Dennis to be totally eclipsed but the cartoons have fleshed him out...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Whizzing to me courtesy of eBay is a fat wad of 1967/1968 Busters for a fiver. From the pictures it looks as though there could be one of the Leo Baxendale fill in covers within the pile. That caught me by surprise when I first saw one with his anarchic style deployed on Buster himself but of course...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
The new Sexton Blake special from Rebellion has turned out to be a real treat. I was expecting a couple of reprint strips bunged in with a page or two of new art but the reality is far better. There’s a lot of good editorial within its pages accompanied by a good dollop of comic history. Consequentl...

Re: Daleks collection
I got mine online from Panini. There’s no need for daft eBay prices as I understand from what I’ve read on Twitter that there are more on the way to the shops. By the way, it’s a quality product.

Steve - I got those inserts, today included. Another nostalgia fest for me as I recall that there were a couple of occasions back in the Seventies when they did that in the broadsheet sized Express - full colour too which was special in those days.

Happy 100th Birthday, Rupert Bear
Today’s the day! Rupert is 100.
One of my earliest memories is aged 3 on Christmas Day 1968, receiving my first Rupert annual. I guess it counts as my first ever comic related item and I still have it. How much has followed since!
Many happy returns!

Re: Flood story!
A bit more digging and I reckon it’s The Great Flood of London from The Beano, starting in 1960.

Re: Flood story!
Hmmm - this ones come up before and the answer will be deep in the forum archive. I can’t specifically remember The details in the thread but I have a glimmer of a recollection that it was in The Beezer. Can anyone add to this ?

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I’ve picked up the pre-publication test print of Wham 1. Packed full with strips but also with a fair few blank pages where the adverts should be. This has been discussed on the forum before but I would not be surprised if copies were printed and used by the advertising team as samples of the intend...
