Re: Are these any good?

comic 3.JPG Came across these...there could be more, just wondered if they are desirable in the Comic Collection world?? Trying to upload a couple of pics I wouldn't look to comics as an investment any more, TSM, that bubble burst big time in the 90s. I have those issues myself, they're great - rea...

Re: Megazine to reprint other ipc/fleetway stories.

Picked up the megazine today . Its great that Lawless comes as a separate comic. Be good to see more like this. The Megazine has a bagged extra comic every month. Always 2000AD material up until now but hopefully more old IPC stuff will follow. There must be more short-run adventure strips that wou...

Re: What comic of yesteryear could survive if revived?

Unfortunately I don't think any kind of revival of anything gone before will be successful. Mainly based on that if it was good enough before it wouldn't have failed in the first place. It's also to be remembered that even in say in a 'golden period' of comic publishing (say the 50s/60s) where you ...

What comic of yesteryear could survive if revived?

I've had a debate with some friends recently about whether comics we enjoyed in our teens like Crisis, Revolver, Deadline etc would have chance of thriving if brought back in some way. Apparently Deadline is due a comeback, but in what form I've no idea and I think it's been a year since the announc...

Re: Rebellion reveal their plans for classic Fleetway charac

This year's Free Comic Book Day giveaway edition of 2000 AD features a rather nice little one page spoof strip of Tharg's Nerve Centre being invaded by a horde of characters "rescued from the Maxwell vortex", including Hookjaw, Gums, Frankie Stein, Odd Ball, Sweeny Toddler, Roy Race, Moonchild, One...

Why are comics stigmatized?

Not much to say here that isn't already on the tin - does anyone have any theories why most people turn their noses up at comics? Is it something inevitable and intrinsic to the medium, or is it more of a nurture rather than nature situation? Before anyone says that they're still perceived to be for...

Much appreciated, Shiner. With that I've been able to enjoy (if that's the word!) the entire series on YouTube. My God, Channel 4 used to be risk takers!

Next step for readers of 'bagged gift' comics?

I was wondering that since there's obviously a healthy market for titles such as 'Toxic', 'Epic', 'Mega' and 'Wa-hey!' (I just made the last one up) that are brimming with plastic tat and extremely parsimonious on strip material - or indeed reading material of any kind - is there any way for publish...

Re: Recommended Comics Documentaries

Thanks for the recommendations, I have bought the Futureshock documentary and look forward to checking out Comics Brittainia. Another that I've enjoyed a lot is 'Jack Kirby: Storyteller', which is on youtube. I've also heard that Johnathan Ross's Steve Ditko doc is suprisingly good.

Recommended Comics Documentaries

Anyone else here enjoy documentaries about comics? I'm a big fan 1989's Comics Confidential, which was made just at the tail end of the 'Zap, Kow, Wham, Comics Aren't Just For Kids' hype boom. Its ropey production values, eclectic range of talking heads, cool soundtrack (50s Doo Wop to 70s Prog Rock...

Re: Why Are There No New Comics?

In my home town, Batley, and the nearest - Dewsbury - 2000 ad is not available; thee reason why I had no choice but to subscribe from this time last year. Judge Dredd Megazine was sporadic, so much so I decided to subscribe that title as well. If old stalwarts such as 2000 ad and the Megazine are s...

Re: Concept art from my new superhero comic

Hi Michael, You've been posting these previews for two years now. All looks good. Is there a publication date scheduled yet? Thanks, Lew! As I work full time it's been slow going, but American indie publisher Smile Titans will be serializing Gods in their new anthology series coming out in the spri...

Re: Why Are There No New Comics?

That article is completely US-centric, but the fact comics now sell thousands instead of millions has nothing to do with the direct market, considering the same thing has happened in the UK where comics are still on newsstands! ... Well, I have nothing but respect for the newsstands you're obviousl...
