Lion numbering

I'm trying to figure out when Lion dropped issue numbers from the cover. The April 18th 1959 Lion is numbered as #374 on the cover, but by 23rd May 1959, five weeks later, the cover only displays a date. So the change clearly took place on or between those issues. Is anyone able to narrow it down fu...

Re: Sally - skipped weeks

Thanks, but unfortunately not. Comicvine's Sally entry has multiple weeks missing, and the numbering isn't reliable as it doesn't take those skipped weeks into account - until earlier today it listed the last issue as #94, now it is #84, and it's actually #83 if Sally skipped eleven weeks as I'm lea...

Re: The Vigilant, - new comic from Rebellion

Though I'm sure they were lost on most potential readers, I did personally enjoy the cameos from various IPC characters. However, the identity of one of those cameos escapes me. Does anyone know who the kilted woman carrying the hammer is, summoned by Mesmer alongside the Snake (Professor Krait) and...

Sally - skipped weeks

I'm trying to confirm which weeks the comic Sally skipped publication. My understanding is that there's a ten week gap between the 14th November 1970 and 30th January 1971 issue due to a strike (with the cover of the latter certainly confirming a gap, if not the duration), and that there was another...

Re: Time Travel strips in Girls' Comics

I don't think that's Giorgio on 'Swish Family Robinson', Matrix - though he may have had a hand in the colouring which doesn't seem to be in Luis' usual style. Offhand I can't remember if he ever worked for the Bermejo studio. One of the weirdest methods of time travel to appear in a British comic ...

My copy arrived this morning. I haven't had a chance to do more than skim through it, but it looks good so far!

Re: Rebellion acquire Egmont's archive of strips and charact

Chris, I wonder if it is a "victimless crime" to pirate old comics though? It sets up the expectation that vintage material is up for grabs, so when companies do publish such stuff there's going to be some who either think "I already have it on file" or "Someone's bound to upload it soon". I wonder...

Re: Rebellion acquire Egmont's archive of strips and charact

It surprises me how many people who've grown up in the Internet Age seem to look on free access to this sort of material as a kind of human right! There are some who seem to think that anything that can be digitally reproduced is therefore free. After all, it costs next to nothing to copy i...

Re: Rebellion acquire Egmont's archive of strips and charact

Thanks for that information, Phil. Apparently, even if Thomsons hadn't wielded the big stick I would have had to sign up to Facebook before being allowed to read any of the story papers displayed. I consider Facebook to be a no-go area so that's a bridge too far for me I'm afraid. I think the site ...

Re: Rebellion acquire Egmont's archive of strips and charact

The site was Mag@Zone, and I think they recently admitted they'd had to remove a number of their uploaded comics because of copyright issues with DC Thomson. To be honest I was surprised they were permitted to keep them up for as long as they did. You can still see the original comic index, but I t...

Dan Dare audio adventures

I'm not entirely sure if this should be in the comics section (since it does tie to Dan Dare) or the non-comics (since it's not actually about a comic), but since there's another thread in the General Comics Discussion for comics adapted to the screen, I figure audio adaptions should be okay here. I...
