It's a damn good job there's a comma in that sentence...Digifiend wrote:Pussy is slang for cat - I don't see the problem.

Re: "Inappropiate" stuff in UK kids humour comics
A recent Beano had the phrase "kick-ass", which surprised me somewhat.

1978... so probably that year's run of Plug.
EDIT: Oh, and 2000 AD, of course.

Ha, I was worried it'd be read like that! Not my intention.
Let it be known one of my most prized possessions is a sketch of Pete and his Pimple.

Well-loved British comic artist in the new Viz...
Don't want to spoil the surprise of who it is, but there's a strip from a popular artist we all love in the Christmas issue of Viz... There's also a timely Pathetic Sharks strip from Lew Stringer. Excellent stuff! AND there's a free calendar too! If you're not easily offended, it's highly recommended!

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D
I must admit, after enjoying the first episode I've found the rest quite disappointing. It feels like a cheap filler, cancelled-after-a-season, tossed out at teatime kind of show, and not the A-list prime-time blockbuster it should be. Still, it shows some promise, and could develop into something m...

Re: Christmas Cracker
Neither of these issues was in my local whs :( perhaps they may hold putting them on shelves for a few weeks unless they sold put already. Some branches do seem to hold things back. It took a while for my local WHS to put the summer specials out. Try again at the weekend or next week. I haven't bee...

Re: Are weekly comics doomed?
I saw the Craig Graham-helmed Dandy as an attempt to make an "all-ages" comic that was child-friendly yet which also appealed to adults. And we all know how much you enjoyed that, Kid. Well, I'm not sure if it was ever designed to appeal to adults, but whatever it was attempting to do, it fa...

Re: Are weekly comics doomed?
And the 1990 puppet show was actually called The Beano's Dennis the Menace and Gnasher Show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E3cbcceGII Blimey, that's quite a find! I've never seen that before; we only got cable in 1993. Charmingly amateurish (right down to DC Thomson's name being incorrectly spelt...

Re: Are weekly comics doomed?
Mad magazine is still going strong isn't it? What is the age group of its readership? You can occasionally find the US edition of Mad in UK newsagents, but it's rare. It's also surprisingly cheap - £3.25 for a $5.99 magazine seems wrong to me (and it was only £2.99 until recently. Bizarre.) In term...
