Re: Free comics in The Guardian
What's most likely is that a rival paper will copy the idea (this has happened with everything from wallcharts and the G2 pullout section to Notes & Queries). When they do, though it might require buying a Daily (ecch) Mail, my choices would be: Sparky Valiant Lion (circa 1964 or 1972) Look-In (NB:...

Re: What Comic Would You Like Out There?
Agreed, especially if you throw in a little 'Lion' and 'Valiant' in too.steelclaw wrote:I would like to see a comic with the mix of 'Thunder' 'Jet' & 70's Knockout.
40 Pages, Lion Size and costing 75p.
Plus include Dan Dare and Roy of the Rovers.

Re: New Dennis TV Series
I loved it. I didn't mind the voices as the sounded a little like the earlier series which I did like. Walter has changed (character-wise) from a 'Softy' to a 'Swotty' (very much like the 'Swotty' in Brassneck back in the 70s). Maybe people in control thought that if he was 'too gay', then there may...

Re: 2010 Annual
I haven't seen any new annuals in the shops yet either. Not that I will be buying them any time soon. I always wait until my town has its annual late night shopping (a special event) at the beginning of December.

Re: New look Ball Boy unveiled
I did take consideration before I made the claim. If you look at Dave Eastburys website you can see quite a variation of his work but nothing quite as drastic a change as the new look Ball Boy. Futhermore if you look at the Beano websites comment facility you can indeed put anyname, ands perhaps th...

I was always intrigued - why did DCT never produce a Nutty Summer Special or Book at the time?

Re: Whizzer and Chips - IPC's definitive comic.
Personally my favourite IPC from the 70s was Krazy Comic. Great comic (and it also created an offshoot - Cheeky Weekly) but it didn't take too long for it to merge with Whizzer and Chips.

Now if I was in charge...
What I would do is to divide the Dandy and Xtreme titles. The latter going monthly and keeping to its present theme. I would also be so generous as to donate a few characters (e.g. Jak and Todd, Olly but NOT DD, Banaman or Cuddles & Dimples). Then under a blaze of publicity, I would relaunch the Dan...

Re: The Red Wrecker & The Crimson Ball -political?
Apart from the colour, I don't really see it either. :) Both strips IIRC featured foreign agents behind the threats. The Crimson Ball in particular had a mission to destroy British military aircraft. Whilst not actually shown to be Communists, it was natural at the time to assume the villains came ...
