Re: Tom Tully RIP?

Most of that information about the pub etc I would think came from this piece on 'Moose' Harris's great sites on British comics. Linky http://www.falconsquadron.sevenpennynightmare.co.uk/?p=73 Yep, Tom lived next door to my Aunt and Uncle for years, and ran one of our local pubs. Despite what it sa...

Re: Does anyone know who this is?

I'll link a few. I've never seen this artist's work anywhere else other than on Hellman. I've trawled through hundreds of late '60s and early '70s comics but this is the only strip I've seen. http://www.sevenpennynightmare.co.uk/?p=519&nggpage=2 From page 81 onwards. Preceding artists were Mike Dore...

Re: Best of land battle

I've seen no mention of ROTR on any schedules I've had from Titan. Everything is currently on hold as Darkie's Mob seems to be top priority, but there are a few problems with getting that book out. Johnny Red and Charley 7 are already in production, but after that it's all a mystery. The content for...

Action Annual 1977 is the same, I have versions with and without the date.

Re: Best of land battle

Everything from Titan is currently on hold following a recent editorial and management restructure and a change of priorities. Johnny Red was due to go to press two weeks ago, Charley's War volume 7 is being rushed through at the moment, and Darkie's Mob is running past deadline. Work for Best of Ac...

Does anyone know who this is?

I'm trying to figure out who took over Hellman of Hammer Force from Alex Henderson, but I've been unable to find any information at all on the artist, and have scoured plenty of IPC comics from the late '70s looking for more work by them, to no avail. any clues?

Re: Graphics Tablets?

The Wacom Bamboo is great, and fairly cheap. I'm currently using it for an act of utter heresy, which is to restore some of Joe Colquhoun's Johnny Red and Charley's War work. I debated this act of vandalism/restoration (depending on how I feel at the time), but thought it'd be nice to see the pages ...

Re: Action Comic IPC

That'll be Titan's over-optimistic early solicit of the book. So far the guy editing it has only started looking at what might go in it, no pagination, no strips selected. Interestingly, the use of the title 'Action' has been permitted for a Titan run of reprints. I did some samples for a European p...

Re: Tammy

I had a quick look before I posted, and I've found a few 1976/77 'watershed' issues which may help, but I was really wondering just what were the most tormented strips. I shall continue to read around, there's some stuff in an interview with PAt Mills if only i could find it. I'll look out for Crike...

Re: Bumper book of Battle

Yeah, but what was that legendary and over-used quote?

"If a single child is harmed..." was always trotted out, for all the quantifiable difference it would have made.

Re: Action Comic IPC

No, things are fine thanks Lew. I spoke to Melanie a long time ago, not long after the Misty thing happened, and the problem there was that the scans were being offered on CD for money which Egmont objected to, even though the defence was that the price charged only covered the cost to produce and m...

Tammy

Does anybody know much about the strips in Tammy? I think Gerry Finley-Day was editor of the title when it started, and wrote a lot of stuff alongside Pat Mills and John Wagner. There's supposedly lots of "mental cruelty" in girls' comics of the early '70s and I'd like to know what was in Tammy that...

Re: Action Comic IPC

I have unofficial permission from Steve MacManus and Melanie Leggett at Egmont. The site, along with the Batlle/Johnny Red site have put me in a position of favour with Egmont and Titan on the reprinting of collected strips because I've landed the role of scanning them and tarting them up to their f...
