Re: Andy Fanton strip coming soon

Hi all, I can confirm that Bambeanos is not my work (looks like Wayne to me, also), but that I may well be drawing something new for the Beano very soon... (not saying anything further on that topic for the moment;)

I'm interested to see my name on that, as this is the first I've heard of it!

Re: Laura Howell deserves more pages

Thanks for the kind words everyone:) I'd love to draw more Johnny Bean myself, but I'm afraid he's probably gone for good (likewise Beano Manga). There are however a couple of unpublished stories of each of those strips that I could put up on my website for you to look at - they won't be lettered bu...

Re: Dandy Annual 2013

Thanks guys:)

Number 13 is being coloured in-house, Kate and Bully Beef have both been coloured by me, but I didn't have access to the coloured versions as they're on the hard drive of a computer that's currently dead. Seems like the linework's enough to give you an idea of what to expect, anyway;)

Re: Dandy Annual 2013

In the spirit of MikeD's post, I'll also mention that I just updated my blog with info about what you can expect from me in this year's annuals...

Wrong I'm afraid! It's Plum MacDuff, the Highlandman who never gets enough (brains, in this case).

Rats, I didn't realise Angel Face was a Dandy character! I'm actually quite annoyed about that. Glad people liked it, anyway;)

Re: This week's issue Take 2

Let me clarify. I don't have a problem with speculation about things, as long as we're all clear it's just that - speculation. Jonny Whizz's post made me realise that the idea that Alan decided to send a rather curt sacking letter to Trevor Metcalfe is now being treated as Fact, when, if we go back ...

Re: This week's issue Take 2

Not going to talk specifics here peeps, but I felt I should wade in and point out that the Beano editor may rule the Beano office but there are other levels of power above him, all of which can make decisions that he may have to act on but not necessarily have any say over. So don't leap to conclusi...

Re: NEW! Dangerous Dan by Nigel P

There hasn't really been a high rate of character creation in the Beano since that last burst in 2007, and so far the longest-serving character created in the 21st century has been Freddie Fear, from way back in the middle of the 1998-2003 'Golden Era'. Fred's Bed and Meebo and Zuky may yet last lon...

Re: Barack Obama in the Beano

FWIW, the publisher I used to work for before I became freelance used "noone" in its house style guide. So there must be precedent somewhere.

Re: This week's issue

Anyone posted this already? A little video from the Cartoon Museum in London focusing on Dennis's birthday:

That kid's a pretty good artist, but if he's sold over 200 copies of his comic his future clearly lies in marketing!

Re: Dandy Relaunch THIS WEDNESDAY!!!

Kev, I bought mine from my local Tesco Express, even though it has a tiny selection of comics AND never used to stock Dandy Extreme. So it might be more likely that your local branch had sold out. I'm curious to check availability in my local WH Smiths/corner shop - will do so today. Also, they had ...

Re: Dandy Relaunch THIS WEDNESDAY!!!

Got the New Dandy, really liked it - acres better than Dandy Extreme. There's several strips in there that I'll happily buy it every week in order to read. I'll add myself to the list of people who are massively impressed at Wayne's range of art styles (Bananaman in particular looks like it's chanel...
