80s and 90s issues available in Manchester via Reddit

Euphoric_Rooster_90 on Reddit has some 2000AD progs from the 80s and 90s they're looking to dispose of ASAP due to an eviction. They're in Manchester and obtained them in a house clearance around 2010. https://i.redd.it/dada5588leqb1.png https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/16rs270/2000ad/ I...

2024 Annual previews

Huh, DC Thomson don't usually do previews, but Amazon has previews for this year's annuals. DC Thomson cut 300 jobs and close down some titles

Looks like DC Thomson are in trouble. They've just made 300 staff redundant, and announced that Shout, Animals & You, Animal Planet, Living, Platinum and Evergreen magazines are closing. Apparently there's a £10m shortfall. Beano looks safe for now, but I'm worried the whole company could go under. ...

No. That's I.P. Daley, an adult woman. She's the author of the Dennis and Gnasher "Boomics", whose real writers are actually former Beano editors Craig Graham and Mike Sterling.

Re: What comics did you buy today?

I'll need to check if any of them are duplicates first. My Mum asked me to guess how much she paid, and my guess was £10. I was pleasantly surprised when she said it was just £2! I didn't have many 1960s annuals (I have most of them from the 70s and all of them from 1980 onwards, at least for Beano ...

Re: Don't call me Fatty, the name's Freddy!

I agree, I'm surprised he wasn't redesigned to fit the art style. Though David Sutherland is known for being able to mimic other artists' styles, as shown by how he took over from Dudley Watkins on Biffo, David Law on Dennis, and Leo Baxendale on BSK, and of course he also did adventure stories back...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

My Mum just brought me 15 annuals from a car boot sale, for which she paid a total of... £2! They're not recent ones either. Apparently, if nobody bought them by the end of the day, they would've been thrown in a skip. Beano Book 1963, 1964, 1975. Dandy Book 1962, 1964, 1967, 1968, 1970, 1972, 1975....

Pocket money stopped, grounded, or something karmic (like Roger trying to dodge chores but ending up having to do something that's even more work). Sometimes they just get away with their mischief.

Re: 300 issues strong

No way were any of the writers or artists responsible for Dandy's demise (DC Thomson clearly don't think so either as some of them ended up working on Beano - including Smart who did Roger the Dodger for a while - and some of the new characters from the last couple of years still show up in the Dand...
