Re: Need help on Maisie's Magic Eye

Are your first and second books available, and if so, where from? The first one, FREE GIFTS IN THE BIG FIVE , is available from 30th Century Comics, 18 Lower Richmond Road, PUTNEY, London SW15 1JP, or direct from me. Either way it will cost you £30 plus p&p. The second one, THIS WAS THE WIZARD , is...

Re: Need help on Maisie's Magic Eye

Are you the same Derek as the one who has all the answers on Girls' Comics of Yesterday? Well, I'm the same Derek as I was yesterday, and I do post from time to time on the Girls Comics Of Yesterday site. However, I don't necessarily have all the answers, but I do have plenty of the story papers fo...

Re: Need help on Maisie's Magic Eye

Update: A friend from Australia has just sent me 9 out of the 11 needed visuals over Messenger! The only ones missing now are 23 May and 22 August. Derek, perhaps you could just tell me briefly what the action is about in these two stories? That would actually be enough for me to ID them. Best, Tris...

Re: Need help on Maisie's Magic Eye

Hello all, I'm currently working on an index of the translations of Maisie's Magic Eye by French publisher Arédit in their digest-sized comics. Thanks to a copy of the contract between Arédit and Graph-Lit (the agency which represented IPC in Europe), I know that Arédit bought all stories published...

Re: Non-White Protagonists

Cybela and The Survivors were drawn by the same artist. Does anybody know who he/she was? Sorry, the identity of this artist remains elusive. Last time I asked David Roach who that artist was he said it was one of the artists that was eluding him. He may have nailed it since, but don't get your hop...

I have asked David Roach, I'm keeping my fingers crossed, especially since I have found out more serials by the same artist and I real...

Re: Humour pages in girl comics..

There was a humour one-pager series called Minnie Ha-Ha (later Minnie Ha-Ha and Her Talking Raven) in Sparky from issue 1 (23.01.1965) to at least #22 (19.06.1965). Below is a sample. The art is by renowned French artist Pierre Lacroix (who is most famous in France for drawing Bibi Fricotin and some...

Re: Tell Me Why

Can anyone name anymore artists? Unfortunately a lot of the work is not credited or signed, who were the cover artists? Thanks! Hello, The cover to Tell Me Why n°77 you posted is also by Carlo Jacono. In France Tell Me Why was adapted as Je sais tout. I have the complete run of 49 issues of Je sais...

Re: Leslie Otway.

In June, Leslie Otway drew the last few episodes of a story started by Geoff Campion in #1, "Against All Odds". These panels are from the final episode in June #13 (June 10, 1961).

Re: The Elusive Mam'selle X

From what I've seen by googling for Dudley Wynne, I don't think this is by him although there are similarities. The style here is very tightly detailed, less scratchy or hesitant maybe than Dudley Wynne's. I will have to post single panels so that you can look more closely. My thoughts were towards ...

Thank your for the response. All samples are from the same story, so I would guess all the pages are by the same artist. I will look into Dudley Wynne.
