Re: Some interesting observations about collecting

In my area of Essex in the last number of years it’s been 2000ad the odd commando or war comic, just started to see British edition marvel reprints, lots of modern beanos . You often see modern American comics, which I mostly walk past unless there are some silver or Bronze Age dc comics . At boot s...

Re: What comics DIDN'T you buy today?

Just seen on eBay a first issue copy of the 1969 British comic Super DC with part of cover missing, loads of other cover faults and it looks like foxing on the paper for £100 or buy it now for £140 , I know some of the later issues are very hard to get of the 14 issue run I have been trying to get i...

Re: Where Are The Best Places to Buy Comics These Days?

EBay seems to be now the best place to obtain vintage uk comics, boot sales seem to only have 2000ad comics in my area. Not seen good vintage comics in the wild for years now, the new toy and comic shop a short walk from me has plenty of American comics but stocks second hand British edition reprint...

Re: To buy or not to buy

I often wonder where charity shops get their prices from , one shop near me has Well read Spider-Man comics for £8 each to be honest 50p would be overpriced. And another shop has had a Star Trek eaglemoss graphic novel in the window for a few months at £5 you can see sun fade lines on it now. And do...

Re: To buy or not to buy

I had a dilemma once whether to buy a number of girls Candy comics from the late 1960s at my local boot sale. Anyway, I eventually bought them , think there were 12 issues? , for 45p each because they were part of a huge haul of comics, and what swung it was they all featured Lady Penelope from Ger...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

If anyone is looking for a cheap read check out Poundland as some of the stores are selling the Eaglemoss DC & Batman graphic novel part works for £3 each, I know it’s not a UK comic but we all like a bargain and as each issue was about £12 each it’s a cheap read for the long cold winter months , I’...

How much has your comic buying and reading changed over the years

My comic buying and reading has changed several times in the past ten years or so I used to collect pocket library comics buying loads each month which ended up with 1000s of commando, war and battle comics many I never ended reading. I have spent many weeks sorting out my pocket library’s and are sl...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

My son picked up for me the new Spectrum comic, not sure if it’s a one off or a regular comic, it’s American comic size and style with strips of Captain Scarlet, Terrahawks and space precinct. Nice cover artwork but not keen on the strips artwork or stories, it’s very much to me the style that’s com...

Re: Collecting comics within a budget

There are 7 charity shops in my small town centre I can’t recall seeing any pre 80s annuals or comics for many years, all you see are the rubbish modern books about games and tv shows. Last year was the worst year at boot sales for comics and annuals. Being recently retired I have a budget for comic...
