Re: Better quality Commando.
According to their Facebook page, the paper is 60gsm and the cover is 150gsm. I think it's whiter paper inside too. There's a picture on their Facebook of someone's 3500 copy collection. He'll need bigger shelves!

Re: ALL REPRINTS THIS WEEK.
I think that Cecil Rigby was a sports cartoonist as well. Somewhere I've read that he did those football player caricatures that the papers used to use when they did results editions. I have the feeling it was Manchester/Leeds that were mentioned. Whether he drew for the Sun, I don't know, but it is...

Re: ALL REPRINTS THIS WEEK.
Steve, I think that two of these are the normal re-issues and the other two are the "Special Request" ones. They did this twice last year (I think) and in the intro to The Fighting Penguins in this lot they say it's one people have asked to see again. There's also a badge on the cover that says "Spe...

Apologies, Steve, I misunderstood your comment, I only picked up that you said eight a month.

Re: Commando article in latest Weekly News (again!)
Thanks for the info on the Egyptian issues and the background. I can see what you mean about the military's reputation.
Am I associated with DC Thomson? Let's just say that like the Bedouin, their watering holes and mine co-incide! And have done for quite a long time.

Re: Commando article in latest Weekly News (again!)
I know we all like to be accurate here so... Steve, it is actually four a fortnight, not eight a month. They issue 104 a year now as distinct from the old 96. Felneymike, no new (official) Hindi reprints. The ones done were in English, produced by Eurokids a year or so back and had two different for...

Art Of Commando Calendar
I've just found out there's a new Commando calendar for 2009. Has anyone else seen it? It looks to me to be similar to the one they did in 2007 with big single cover illustrations. I thought it was all Ian Kennedy artwork but there's a Gordon Livingstone one there as well. You can't see all the cove...

Re: New Commando/Battle Large paperbacks
The latest book comes out in May. It's called "Rumble in the Jungle" according to the Commando website.
No story listing last time I looked.
And apparently there's another one to come after that.
They're on me Christmas list.
Wonder if you get a free one with a year's subscription?

New Commando Editor speaks
I see on http://www.whereeaglesdare.eu/inter11.htm that the new editor of Commando has given an interview. He seems keen for readers to get in touch with him about what they want to see in the comic. Maybe we should send him some of the ideas suggested here...or do you think he's already looking in?...

A NEW IDEA FOR COMMANDO
Even as a kid I always thought that the Commando stories were better than the stuff in Warlord, Victor and the rest of their clones. There was more to them plot-wise. You always knew that Braddock would trounce the beastly huns, with Commando you were never sure of the outcome till the last page (al...

Commando name going into new interesting avenues..i.e Viking
If memory serves, there have been Commando stories about cops in the blackout and similar. I can't remember any titles but I'm certain I've read at least one back in the dim and distant. That's not including MP stories by the way. As for sport and romance, they had their own 'libraries' and they're ...

Commando merchandise
Didn't know about Fairyland tales. Doesn't sound very military... I knew that Commando is the last survivor of the breed but I wondered if any of the others had done merchandise in the past. Let's be honest, DC Thomson never were very quick on the uptake when it came to spin-offs. (With the possible...
