Re: Which British comic series have been adapted for TV or film and which British TV series have been adapted into comic
Apologies if I am off subject a little- but there was once an attempt to get the TV series "The Prisoner" as a comic series in the USA. It was Marvel's top artist, Jack Kirby who attempted this and test drawings were done (I have seen some) Sadly, because they could not get the characterisation of M...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Just got `New Hotspur` Nos 47, 48 & 49 from 1960. Reason for these was the start of the "Lonely Larry" strip. This was later repeated in `Sparky` 1967-68; where I first came across it retitled as "The Lonely Lad of Blue Lagoon" where `Larry` was also retitled `Ken`. Interesting that in the first `Ne...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Just got a run of 1965-66 Hotspur comics with the one `Lonely Larry` series (The final in Hotspur) that `wasn't` repeated in Sparky (His first three series were in 1967-68) Hope to get more of the ones that `were` repeated in Sparky where he was renamed `Ken` and the strip was titled "The Lonely Lad...

Re: Question about non stapled comics
Pages were glued, but sometimes it dries and they come loose. Just carefully centre them up and then apply one or two small drops of UHU glue at top, middle & bottom to re-fix them.

Re: Magic comic
That's very rare. The comic itself is pretty rare two. Any copies that come up for sale often go well into double figures.

Sparky = Favourite era.
I had the Sparky comic from its first issue in January 1965 up to May/June 1971. While I enjoyed the whole run, two favourite `Eras` stood out for me in particular. The first was the period following the September 1966`free gifts/new stories promotion. This brought in `fun pals` "My Grockle and Me" ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I just got some 1964 `Hotspur` comics. All of August and October 1964. Reason for this was for the `Lonely Larry` strip. I wanted to see if it differed from its 1968 `repeats` in Sparky comic. The three from October did as they had red colouring shades , due to centre page placing. Hope to get Septe...

Re: Favourite year of `Sparky`
Horace stayed with the comic right to its merger with Topper. He stayed in Topper & Sparky until Topper was merged with Beezer.

Re: Favourite year of `Sparky`
To elaborate. During 1967, I felt the comic was not quite as entertaining as it was in Autumn 1966 (Another good era for me) and the huge September 1967 `overhaul` I felt was very much needed. In this returned favourites `Klanky` and `Davey Spacer` plus new fun pals such as `Meddlesome Matty` and `D...

Favourite year of `Sparky`
Yes! Sparky comic! Do `you` have a favourite year of its 1965-77 run? Maybe it will surprise those who know the comic; but my own most fondly recalled year is 1968, especially the first half of the year. My guess that for the majority of Sparky fans it would probably be 1969.

In the early 1970s series "Billy Liar" (Starring Jeff Rawle) Billy reads an issue of `Sparky` in his office!

First `Peter Piper` artist in `Sparky`
Might anyone know the identity of the artist who drew the `Peter Piper` strip in `Sparky` from issue no 3 in Feb 1965 to mid 1966 when Albert holroyd took over art duties. Anyone please?
