Re: Social Media.

I use facebook but I rarely put on any photos of me and I rarely even mention what I am up to other than adding on old comics pages etc. There are no photos of me with my latest pint of beer or anything like that. I was in the boozer yesterday, and yes I am mentioning it here but only because we are...

Re: Social Media.

Hiya Col I appreciate what you are saying here about the benefits of social media for communicating with field specialists. However I have definitely encountered forums in particular which reveal even [some, by no means all] recognized 'experts' to be anti-social, selfish people who are prone to act...

Re: Why are comics stigmatized?

Great subject for a topic. I agree with Lew a lot of it seems to be just ignorance and to me it is downright snobbery in some cases. Also , a lot of people lose their silly sense of mischied as they age, unlike us folks on here , we still enjoy childhood stuff like comics , we just have a more 'scho...

Re: 1985 Buster Book Annual, is this normal???

Probably a genuine printing mistake, Pu, this sort of thing did crop up on occassion --I remember seeing a DANDY Comic Library that came out like this and yes it was pretty rare: it is along the same lines as somebody working in a milk bottling plant and putting the wrong labels on a specific brand ...

Re: Complete runs of comics on DVD

I found the 60s Batwoman/ Catwoman in the USA Batman comics very sexy as a kid in a way you just hardly ever saw if at all in the UK stuff at that time.

Re: Complete runs of comics on DVD

Very droll my good man--very droll

Me and Alan have never actually met despite our surnames and shared I Spy fervour.

Our relationship is purely centred around Sparky comic and it ends there!

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg2/61ROBERTSMITH/mr%20x%20closeup.jpg Above: a restoration example I done on I Spy: image quality on here does not really do it justice but believe me the difference between this and the original comic version is very noticable. The original comic in its raw stat...

Re: Complete runs of comics on DVD

Sorry I just noticed Phoenixs' reply about why would I re-buy material I already have? I have all the I SPY material I desire in good condition Phoenix and it is well looked after, I even move the comics when I am off on holiday in case of flooding, etc. However! I keep meaning to scan every page of...

Re: 2000AD - Why Never a DCT equivalent?

The first frame is Talbot-esque Minx but I do not really think it is him, just a wee bit similar---maybe the black ink backing.

Re: Complete runs of comics on DVD

There is also a tendency to 'zip' through the material on a disc too quickly---a real comic is more likely to be savoured in comparison. Real paper comics is the way to go for the serious comic buff. I regard myself as a fairly keen comics fan [not as obsessive as some I have encountered] and I find...

Re: Complete runs of comics on DVD

As I have said before on here Paw, I would pay 50 quid or more for a quality reprint book of I SPY [the black-and-white pages] even although I have decent copies of the original comics. I will be surprized if I ever see it though: just too risky a venture for a serious publisher looking to stay in b...

Re: Complete runs of comics on DVD

Sorry Starscape--I dip in and out of the consumer society as well as take a look at what is happening in the wider world. I am just as much 'into' mass consumerism as anyone else on here, and comics is one of the interests I still follow. Lew : I will look into the Rebellion reprints for example I w...

Re: Leo Baxendale

The 60s Sutherland Bash Street was pretty much on par with the Baxendale, Sue

Come the 70s the artwork on the strip simplified noticably due to Mr Sutherlands increased workload.
