Re: If you were the Editor...

To be honest there aren't any UK comics out there that interest me (well Im over 21 waaaaaaaaaaay over sadly lol) , I have a bit of a knowledge of the Dandy and Beano as I like Hunt Emerson's work so look and buy the odd issue of then (and bought them as a kid) so thought I would make a go at that -...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Re: If you were the Editor...

I would add a 2 page regular adventure or humour drama type story a la the Iron Fishl or Spunky and his spider etc try get someone like Ian Gibson (Halo Jones etc in 2000AD) to draw it - have more Hunt Emerson (let him loose to do his thing, he's a genius), pick a one off classic reprint like Leo Ba...

Re: Comic Football Suspended

What I don't understand re WH Smiths is how come they can sell what seems to be hundreds of exceptionally limited interest magazines like Papercraft, Digital Battlefield, Unmanned vehicles, Lets make cards, and so many other obscure hobbies and interests that have mags - obviously these do sell but ...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Have to admit I prefer a crisp autumn day to a hot sunny day, Autumn and winter were my favourite times to read comics, but summer was when all the new US titles would come out for their breaks so did a lot of reading then myself - when I lived and worked in London I used to hate the underground in ...

Re: Tin-Tin

There's no doubt the depiction of black people in western culture is nothing we can be proud of. This isn't the worst, but it's not clever and to be fair Herge and others have acknowledged this fact themselves. We can be cynical here and say its all about the Tin Tin film and someone is looking to m...

Re: Rugby world cup.

All tough games (even the New Zealand one Argentina are a good team) but I reckon it will be: Wales, France (I reckon that will be the closed game) , Australia and New Zealand - the first 3 can go either way of course but good luck to Wales, England and Ireland in particular

Re: D C Thomson worth 660 Million.

Wasn't IPC the biggest publisher in the world at one time? and DCT also make some money from licensing characters overseas (I think I read on here that a comic called Wendy has a DCT connection this way) - yeah of course DCT is a UK publisher but it has retained more than most a very Scottish elemen...

Re: D C Thomson worth 660 Million.

We may not have many billionairres (obscene to have that much money - and yes Im jealous) up here but there are a lot of millionaires here but I think Edinburgh has more millionaires than anywhere outside London in the UK - sadly like lots of places we have a few too many crimelord millionaires as w...
