Artist identification - Boys' World Annual 1966
The 1966 Boys' World annual contained a four-page strip called The Trojan Horse which I plan to feature on my Art of Diving blog. I can't identify the artist so I thought I'd consult the hive mind. Anyone have any ideas please? https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XCwD033LXSY/XNJGue6JB7I/AAAAAAAACsA/9iQ42mbKO...

Re: Ebay - you want how much for it???
Only £1387.65. Without paying any regard to the actual value of this item, as I have no idea what that is, I do wonder what decision-making process the seller has used to reach such a high figure, and yet hasn't been able to resist adding a further 65p. It's from a US seller and the actual price is...

Re: Crikey! is back
Well, I'm deeply sorry that those writers, all of whom were simply putting stuff together in their own time for no pay just because they wanted to spread a little joy about their hobby around, didn't come up to your exacting standards. And I'm absolutely mortified, of course, that I didn't pick up ...

Re: Crikey! is back
What level of research do you expect? Picking one issue at random I'd expect... an article about Tornado not to confuse artists Ian Kennedy and Cam Kennedy. I'd expect the same article not to call Victor Drago "Holmesian" but instead mention that he was originally going to be Sexton Blake. I'd expe...

Re: Crikey! is back
I always found Crikey to be slightly disappointing. I felt the level of research could be a bit lacking. I remember one issue had an article on Captain Hurricane from Valiant that completely failed to mention his trademark "raging fury"!

Re: The Magic comic number 1
I don't have a copy but I worked at the Vintage Magazine Shop when the reprints were produced by the shop's owner. IIRC they were in fact unbound extra copies of the individual sections of the D C Thomson Firsts book that Danny published. From your pictures I would confidently state that your comic ...

Re: What year did you start reading comics?
I don't remember reading any nursery comics but I might well have done. TV21 is the first one I remember getting - issue 90 (October 1966) which came with a free Thunderbirds cap. I was three and a half. We were living in Wales at the time and each week my Mum would give my copy to my cousin down th...

Re: British comics in Greek magazines
My first thought on seeing the artwork was that it looks like Matt Marriot's Tony Weare. I know he did some work for Look and Learn and as this is based on a true story it might have come from there. Just a guess - I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will be along shortly!

Re: British comics in Greek magazines
The Spectacular Adventures of Willie Bunk ran in Whizzer and Chips from the first issue (dated 18th October 1969) until the issue dated 26th December 1970. The use of "spectacular" in the title is a play on "spectacles" (glasses - apologies if I'm stating the obvious!). As you can see, they used col...
