School for Spies began in the Valiant dated January 5th 1974 and ran until the issue dated May 18th (the following week saw the merger with Lion). Don't know the artist I'm afraid.

Predates the Buster character by more than a decade. In a similar manner to Spot the Clue with Zip Nolan, readers were encouraged to spot the solution to whatever peril Cliff found himself in that week.

I believe the original plan was to make the film first, then the series, but the series was brought forward. I think it was simply the case that Newmar was unavailable for the film.

Those Jinty pages are interesting as the inking style looks quite different to Smith's other work. I can kind of see in places where someone might think it was Ian Kennedy.
