Re: Ranger annuals - Asterix

The only one I've seen is the Ranger Book 1967. It has page 34 of Asterix and the Big Fight featuring a fun fair.

Re: Dick Turpin

Dick Turpin had several runs in Knockout . The first was in 1948 ( Dick Turpin's Ride to York drawn by D C Eyles) with another in 1949/50 ( Breed of the Brudenels by H M Brock). There was also a short run in 1962, possibly just a single story, Dick Turpin and the Cavern of Monsters . In this story, ...

Re: Marvel Comics #1000 announced

Why would you assume the writer gets to choose the logo? I'm not saying he didn't - I don't know - but I'd have thought it more likely it was the art department.

Re: Marvel Comics #1000 announced

[Pedant] Technically that's (part of) the Captain Marvel logo, first used on #22 which was on sale in June 1972. [/Pedant]

Artist identification - Boys' World Annual 1966

The 1966 Boys' World annual contained a four-page strip called The Trojan Horse which I plan to feature on my Art of Diving blog. I can't identify the artist so I thought I'd consult the hive mind. Anyone have any ideas please? https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XCwD033LXSY/XNJGue6JB7I/AAAAAAAACsA/9iQ42mbKO...

Re: Ebay - you want how much for it???

Only £1387.65. Without paying any regard to the actual value of this item, as I have no idea what that is, I do wonder what decision-making process the seller has used to reach such a high figure, and yet hasn't been able to resist adding a further 65p. It's from a US seller and the actual price is...

Re: Crikey! is back

Well, I'm deeply sorry that those writers, all of whom were simply putting stuff together in their own time for no pay just because they wanted to spread a little joy about their hobby around, didn't come up to your exacting standards. And I'm absolutely mortified, of course, that I didn't pick up ...

Re: Crikey! is back

What level of research do you expect? Picking one issue at random I'd expect... an article about Tornado not to confuse artists Ian Kennedy and Cam Kennedy. I'd expect the same article not to call Victor Drago "Holmesian" but instead mention that he was originally going to be Sexton Blake. I'd expe...

Re: Crikey! is back

I always found Crikey to be slightly disappointing. I felt the level of research could be a bit lacking. I remember one issue had an article on Captain Hurricane from Valiant that completely failed to mention his trademark "raging fury"!
