Re: 2000AD Free Gift conundrum
Your ok Geoff42 - keep it sealed, otherwise the value will be decreased and it would be just wrong after 35 years in such a rare condition.

Re: Can you name this story?
If you've not seen it watch the 2001 film A.I. Artificial Intelligence where both 'David' and teddy (robotic) seem to have emotions. Lots of different computer themes run through the film.

Re: Can you name this story?
Thanks Tammyfan and Phoenix - if you ever find out the end, please post on this thread. This is the sort of story where the computer M.U.M. would probably have ended up developing feelings for Marty (there were a number of 2000 a.d. stories where the robots appeared to have emotions such as Ro-buste...

Re: Please help me ID this 70s / 80s UK comic strip!
Hope it helps Open Prey. I had a quick check and found the 2 pages from IPC's Jackpot comic number 100 dated 18 April 1981 - scans here: http://marabese.com/CountMystosMaze.jpg http://marabese.com/CountMystosMaze.jpg The adventures were set in different settings each week. Also Count Mysto’s Maze wa...

Re: Can you name this story?
So what happened to Marty and M.U.M. – did they stay together at the end / final part?
I'm surprised Dr Blake didn't develop any emotional attachment to the girl after 13 years.

Re: Please help me ID this 70s / 80s UK comic strip!
Just a thought, as an outside guess could this be Count Mysto's Maze from IPC's Jackpot comic (starting in 1979) with Jackpot finishing in early 1982 - not all of the camouflage fits every issue, though there was a puzzle as the end of each issue which the two boys and the reader had to solve each w...

Re: Graphic Novels
Hi all, Not sure have this has been covered, but, I view them as a brother to the world of comics, does anyone read 'Graphic Novels'? Does anyone on this forum breath air or eat food or sleep at night. ;) Apols for the sarcasm Adam, it just made me smile this morning. Love the question really :) Ex...

Re: what are your favourite comic stories?
For US comics as well/in addition (my above list was for British), I'll go for: 1. Watchmen 1-12 (also on the British list as the creators are British); 2. X-men, Uncanny 110-143 (Byrne and Claremont, with Austin inks were just A1); 3. Camelot 3000 1-12; 4. ’Nam 1-11 (with the first tour and Michael...

Re: what are your favourite comic stories?
So many British comic tales to choose from, I'll go for, including ones I loved in the 1980s: 1) Meltdown Man (2000ad) 2) Pam of Pond Hill (Jinty / then Tammy as this had some light-hearted moments) 3) Charley’s War (Battle 1979-1985, the early issues were very powerful with his friends & foes Ginge...

Re: Whizzer and Chips - 45th anniversary
Yes, those two characters were very popular with readers. Joker had a nice long run from his beginnings in Knockout in 1971. I'm sure he'd still be popular today if Egmont ever did a new comic. Pity they didn't have him starring in that one-off Joker special they did several years ago. (Just a mag ...

22-years since Marvel UK's Overkill with Motormouth et al.
I've realised it's 22-years since Marvel UK's Overkill with Motormouth et al . Back in 1992 the idea was that Marvel UK published a weekly title FIRST with 4 strips (including Motormouth; Warheads and more) and then Marvel USA reprinted them . Issue 1 was pretty good, I thought and re-read it today....

Re: 2000AD Free Gift conundrum
I can also verify that my brother's Eagle space spinners were silver and not red . Of course don't get the similar Nutty comic spinner, which was also round but did not have the middle section/name. Interestingly the Red Tornado Free gift of a Spud Gun was available from another comic, but in a blue...

Re: Whizzer and Chips - 45th anniversary
Great blog post Lew.
One of my brothers used to read this fab comic from 1978 (with the Krazy merger) right up until 1985!
I used to sneak a peak. Around the early eighties Joker and J.R. Junior Rotter used to rival each other for the top readers rated story.
All classic now!

Re: A Comics Related Easter Egg from the New Doctor Who Seri
Did anyone see [i ] Mummy on the Orient Express [/i] on Sat/repeat Sun/iPlayer :?: So far it was my favourite Peter Capaldi Dr Who episode, what did everyone else think? Hopefully Peter C will stay for at least 4 series as he has had a great start. He reminded me a little of Jon Pertwee's Dr as he d...

Re: Film Fun Facts
I read some Film Fun reprints in Cheeky Weekly 1977 and 1978 – they had an old comic spot where Cheeky went int the attic to read his dad's old comics. It must have been a sad day when after 42 years the title came to a close. According to Wikipedia, in 1962, sales of Film Fun dropped below 125,000 ...
