Re: Beano Sales
Beano was down to the last copy in the UK's largest supermarket today!! Since the staff at my local supermarkets have taken my lead and starting putting it where 7-12 year old's can see, I hope it helps sales a little (probably they sell about 10 a week as it is a big SMarket). The nephew (now 9) is...

Re: Whizzer and chips number 1 and free gift.WOW.phil-comics
March of the Mighty Ones was in Buster. Or was it a reprint from Monster Fun? It lasted for the whole run of Monster Fun. True. The Buster reprints, however missed out a huge chunk of story’s though, as I recall from memory roughly c.40 episodes only, though this is a very rough figure. For all the...

Re: Aging heroes in US comics
Thanks everyone – keep the thoughts coming That said, the current Captain America story has seen circumstances that have aged Steve Rogers to his correct age (about 90) and a replacement Captain America. Although strictly speaking, the new Cap, Sam Wilson, would be in his sixties by now if they stuc...

Re: Aging heroes in US comics
Thanks Tony – impressive knowledge of Marvel! I’d never even heard of this infinity formulae. If you’ve any other examples such as non-mutants like Moira McTaggert or perhaps some DC characters who have hardly aged, your probably one of the best people to ask. You probably know what I’m referring to...

Aging heroes in US comics
Most of the USA’s top heroes are now over 50-years old, or just short of this: Spider-Man; Thor; Iron Man; Hulk; Fantastic Four; the original X-men; Daredevil + so many more. With many other long running titles such as DC’s Superman; Batman; Captain America even older. Over the decades, a few title’...

Re: 2000AD Prog 1900
Congrats on the 1900th prog.
It was 14-years ago that 2000ad reached the year 2000 – ending the date on whether the title should change.
Now reaching an incredible 37-years!
So many of the UK’s top comic talents have played a part in so many original issues. Best of luck for the next decade.

Re: Why are men collecting old girls' comics these days?
One thing that is always interesting is that many (not all) stories from girls’ comics were edited, written and drawn by the same artists as boys comics – Jim Baikie to name but one. Interestingly Charley’s War was written by Pat Mills using the same formulae for writing a girls’ story. For one of t...

Is eBay getting worse
Has anyone else had trouble on Ebay either:
1) As a buyer with too many items non-delivered. Could be that my local London post area is just being very bad at deliveries.
or
2) As a seller with too many non-payers.
Since their password problem eBay seems to be getting worse.

Re: Dr Who Weekly / Monthly / Magazine comic strip
from scanning the dr who monthlies I have, I note that the doctor's companion (colin baker's era) was Nicola Bryant who appears very pretty. Was she any good at acting as the doctor's companion, though, or was she simply eye candy? Colin’s Dr No.6 began by being more alien and less likeable than th...

Re: Dr Who Weekly / Monthly / Magazine comic strip
who is your fav. doc? Your answer would probably give the game away. Mine is a toss up between pertwee and tom baker. Pertwee was my first doctor and I loved his "dandy" outfits and then tom came along and I was fascinated by his quirkiness and his jelly babies (of course, there was his scarf). Now...

Re: Dr Who Weekly / Monthly / Magazine comic strip
I like the way they've increased the length of the Doctor Who strip over the years. Four pages originally (plus a four page back up) and now it's 12 pages every issue. Working out at three pages a week, like it was back in the days of TV Action. :D True Lew :!: – from issue 44 (DW 'Monthly') there ...

Dr Who Weekly / Monthly / Magazine comic strip
I’ve been re-reading some of the old Dr Who Weeklies; Monthlies & Magazine's . I keep them with the 14' long scarf that Mum knitted for me in 1978!! Which were your favourite comic strip issues :?: Started in 1979 the comic strip has featured some stalwart writers incl Pat Mills; Steve Parkhouse; Si...

Re: Comics that have disappointed you
I'm surprised that DCT kept the title going in the baron wilderness that was the 1970s I would love to know how they afforded to cover the print production and distribution costs as the sales couldn't have paid for them From a purely print production perspective DC Thomson owned all their own print...
