Re: Romance Comics
These 'True Life' comics do not show up that often so for anyone interested that has not seen them here are a few early examples.
They still make for a good read they are of a very high standard with well balanced stories and nice art.

Re: Australian comics
Spiffy art by Moira Bertram on that site. For those that do not know, she had her first comic work published at fourteen, although she told them she was sixteen! I am not sure but did she do any work in the UK 'Superman Bumper Annual' Origin of? If so does anyone have an example? The scan below is ...

This is a scan of BB No4, it's not mine it was sold a few years back. Other than No 1 in the gallery that's all I could find, no info on any blogs?

Re: Bulldog Brittain
Here are a couple more scans. There is no date, but some annuals advertised on the back page I have tracked down and dated to 1957. So Phil is right about being later, and your old cobblers are getting bigger Paw! Unless of course they put one out a year! At least we know the artist although not sur...

I picked this Bulldog Brittain comic up as I liked the cover. Now I'm curious about the stories being BB, BUZZ N NOBBY, The ALTMARK plus a couple of comedy fillers anyone know any details, are they reprints, artists? No 1 is in the gallery.

Re: Motorcycle madness
This question may well be unnecessary, matrix, but on the offchance that it isn't, do you have the set of Motor Bike cards that were given to readers of Adventure in 1929? This free gift consisted of 24 cards, each featuring a motor bike. The cards were given away in batches of six over four weeks ...

Re: roland davies
Thanks Phil, yes any examples help for reference to these early bikes. That example bottom left is a good one, I wonder if many survived being so many probably crashed maybe not? Thank you for the kind offer Phoenix, but do not have to bother you as have all nine. At least I know I have that year co...

Re: roland davies
Spot on Phoenix! Thanks again for taking the time to help with those, they are great covers. You have a nice collection. I enjoy reading those stories in 'The Champion' and other titles, picked up a 'Detective weekly' recently with Sexton Blake v Waldo the wonder-man from 1939, great story.

Re: Motorcycle madness
Phoenix wrote, on 'what comics did you buy today': Here is the front cover of issue 1 of the 1922 version. The rear cover has gone walkabout but, as I don't collect The Champion, it doesn't really matter. A few years back I bought a run from that first issue as far as the last issue of 1926 from Bil...

Re: roland davies
Thank you for the other scan Phoenix. Interesting background Paw! Re the Jackets and emblems some of those are now very collectable and worth a tidy sum. I have watched American Pickers where they turn up at a house looking for what they call Rusty gold". Some households have old motorcycle jackets,...

Re: roland davies
Thank you Phoenix for posting those 'Boys' Favourite Library' scans what a great group of covers, they are now documented for future reference. They are similar to some of the 'Champion' covers where they attempted some crazy things on motorcycles playing football being one. Going back to Roland Dav...

Re: roland davies
Here are some more examples of his work 'The Ace book of speed' (1952) and 'Daily Mail Motorcycling Book' both written and illustrated by Roland Davies. Denis Gifford mentioned in his obituary "his obsession with speed" http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/obituary-roland-davies-1467688.html and...
