Re: Phonogram - What are your thoughts?
To be fair Digi they are by UK creators, so I don't see why they shouldn't be discussed here. I read the first volume of Phonogram and hated it, but I can't recall why. I am of the britpop/post-britpop generation so I should have been all over it. Maybe I instinctively resisted a comic so firmly aim...

Re: What would have been your Alternative Favourite Comic(s)
This thread happened the year before I joined the forum. Nice to see some lapsed users' avatars again. My regular comics were Dandy and Beano. If either of them didn't exist Buster (my most often bought occasional comic) would have been its replacement. Failing that, Whizzer & Chips, Topper, and Bee...

I have admired - in fact, been dazzled by - this Argentinian artist's work since I first saw it in the final issue of RAW. I now have the recent IDW collection of his strip "Alack Sinner" and it mentions he worked for UK comics in the early 1970s. I did a search on here and I found that Philcom55 ci...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I was very pleased to win a copy of The Beano issue 1,000 on EBay yesterday, which I've hankered after for a number of years. Could somebody please clarify, is the cover by Dudley Watkins? Thanks! cover aint Watkins, maybe Leo Baxendale? No way. Then the Baxendale-created characters would look more...

Re: Social Media.
One thing I don't like about facebook (not only a comics-related problem) Some artists use facebook as their main outlet for announcements, and for generally sharing their thoughts to the world, instead of on their own website or blog. This isn't so bad if it's a public page anyone can follow, but s...

Re: Leo Baxendale
I'm kind of gutted not so much by his death, which comes to us all, but by the lack of mainstream attention. I know he wasn't a household name but I thought that he was was sufficiently a legend among those in the know that the news would get through that this was an important figure in British Art ...

Finally got hold of it and read it. One of the best adult sci fi/adventure comics for adults I've ever read, and so great to see Lopez's artwork again.

Re: Too much action: how Action drowned in its own ultraviol
I have the 2000 AD documentary and Mills was saying there that the cover with the anarchist kids turned out looking like a policeman was about to be assaulted on the cover, but really it was a muck-up in the colouring dept, with the policemans' helmet just happening to be lying there seperately. ht...
