Re: Dandy 75th Anniversary Special

WH Smith in Stop 24 (Hythe services) also still had some on the shelves yesterday.

Re: Jamie Smart new strip in new mag Mega

Hmm, not sure about the title, it's a bit "1992". Though having said that, for all I know today's kids are saying it too. I wish it well.

Re: King Cobra is back in new stories for Relaunch Strip Mag

I don't know that it was pointless. Getting a story in the national press about 2000 AD - or any British comic - can only be a good thing. I'm more suprised that any 2000 AD reader would be taken in by it. Surely anyone that's read a handful of Dredd stories will immediately know that the "Dredd in ...

Re: Marvel UK dumped by Diamond Distributors

Forbidden Planet (International) in Manchester stock them too, alongside their children's/introductory comics. I also can't see this damaging their circulation much, as if you're going into a comic shop you're likely to want the latest comics from the US rather than reprints from a few months ago.

I ordered mine on the 5th too, and still no sign. A bit annoying as I've since seen a copy in WH Smith (gold foil logo).

Delay due to the 1st being a bank holiday, I expect. (And the 2nd is in Scotland too, isn't it?)

Re: The Final Dandy

Had another fruitless trawl around Manchester tonight. Bah! Earlier today the DC Thomson online shop appeared to be out of stock - but I checked again and now it's back on sale! Ordered! Hope it arrives soon (and hope that everyone currently trying to sell one on eBay for £15+ has their [redacted] s...

I think Clint's probably your best bet, followed by Viz.

Re: The Final Dandy

Couldn't find it anywhere in Manchester, not even at the usually-reliable WH Smith in the Arndale Centre. Hoping some shops will only have it from tomorrow - Asda in Wigan still had last week's issue on sale.

Huh? I don't get it. I thought maybe you were joking about his namesake , but I see no such thing on his CV. Erm. From the very page you linked to: The character, "Bing Hitler" (actually coined by Capaldi as Ferguson started with the monogram of "Nico Fulton" but admittedly later stole the name for...

Re: Nice e-mail from Ellis Watson

I must agree with SID. If there's one thing the Dandy HASN'T done it's gone creatively awry - creatively, it's the best children's comic in YEARS. Commercially awry? Certainly. Whether that's due to poor promotion or a lack of interest from its target audience (or a combination thereof) I don't know...

Re: This week's issue Take 2

As an occasional reader of The Beano, I've very much enjoyed the two issues since the relaunch. OK, so it's an evolution of the existing strips rather than the (creatively brilliant) 2010 revolution of The Dandy, but then I suppose The Beano is selling well enough to not need such drastic measures. ...

Re: DREDD (2012)

It's only avaiable in 3D in my neck of the woods---that's why I ain't seen it yet, coz I think 3-D technology is still in a poor, primitive state, with a 'too-dark', annoyingly gimmicky outlook. But, if 3-D is the only option by the end of this film's run, I will likely grit my teeth and bear it. B...

DREDD (2012)

Blimey. There's a film on general release about one of the most popular British comics characters of all time - and we're NOT discussing it on Comics UK?! (Apologies if there's a thread on another sub-forum I've missed.) So... DREDD is in cinemas! I haven't seen it yet (it's proving a hard sell to t...
