Australian comics
Just thought I would add this topic to discuss any Australian comics. I know some have been discussed on other topics and I have researched a little on the net, but always good to obtain fresh views. In particular 'The Phantom' spin off comics from Frew, 'The Raven', 'The Panther', 'Sir Falcon', etc...

Re: Other comic libraries
No worries Paw, glad to help now and again! Ok, I have found out who the artist is for the scan on top of the covers, and the top scan of the three interiors, it was Enrique Nieto. How do I know that? They are signed! How did I miss them? Have you ever bought a car then noticed the same car all the ...

Re: Other comic libraries
The scan below is from 'The Bat'. Just for the record and on closer observation, issues 1 and 2 were published by Alex White & co Ltd, James st, London. Then from issue three the publisher was Top Sellers. The first twenty six issues were printed in Italy after that from issue twenty seven they were...

Re: Other comic libraries
Just having a look at the 'Pocket Chiller library' comics again they really do have some nice covers and interior art, so thought some may like to see a few examples. I know Paw and other members have some but for those that have not. The scans don't really do them justice, but the interiors really ...

Re: Other comic libraries
Picked up some nice libraries being 'Top Secret' 1 with the cool roller coaster cover, plus a 'Lion' 'Captain Condor The Frightened Planet' which I guess is a reprint but nice story, plus a 'Chiller pocket Library' 'The Colby Curse'. Just a couple of questions were the Top Secret stories reprints? A...

Re: Impact covers
I was never sold on a cover; I always bought on what I knew. If a new comic came out, I would buy it regardless of the cover. If the interior lacked in substance, I would soon drop it. Never judge a book by its cover, is the old adage. Of course, for a casual reader, the front cover may prove impor...

Re: Impact covers
Just bumping this up with one for the underdogs! As we have seen on the Fanzines thread there are a lot of nice covers so thought maybe a couple deserve to be on here. This one by Garry Leach, John Higgins (colour) is a nice example, obviously it helps having a popular character on there drawing at...

Re: US Government comics including the Broons!
Thanks for posting that Norman. I have only scratched the surface (as time is a factor) but what a wealth of information, especially for anyone who is researching American comics, and I guess the effect they had on comics around the world. The Senate report in 1955 was worth it alone. As per the Ama...

Re: Fanzine Archive Launched
Good to see those examples, especially that Talbot cover. I have a run of 'Heart of the Empire', as well 'Brainstorm', 'Mixed Bunch', and 'Amazing Rock and Roll', with 'Luther Arkwright', and 'The Omega Report', great stuff. Dennis Gifford did a good editorial in 'Brainstorm' as well. Just one more ...

Re: Black Light: The World of L.B. Cole
I have only just seen this about L.B.Cole. Thanks for the link Paw those covers of his are fantastic. Especially the 'Blue Bolt' covers, I did not know he did those. I have a few comics from the golden era, and coincidently have a 'Blue Bolt' that I purchased a few weeks ago but it is coverless!! I ...

Re: Police Boxes
That is from 'Princess', can't give exact date as don't have it anymore. It is probably a reprint from 'Girl' with a different heading (although I'm not a hundred on that) which they did quite a lot. I think the year is 1966 .davidandrewsimpson wrote:Matrix

Yes it is Phil, 'Out and about with Uncle Ben' he started it in mid Sept 61, until mid Jan 62, when Tamblyn Watts took over. I do not have that issue either.
