Re: Carlos Ezquerra RIP
The latest Judge Dredd Megazine pays tribute to Carlos, with five pages of his fellow creators sharing their memories of him, plus the free reprint magazine which this month presents a selection of his work including his first ever Dredd strip.

Re: Crikey! is back
As I recall Crikey improved with age but there were some shaky moments at the start (the inadvertent announcement of the death of Terry Bave, the Smash article in issue 3) but it has lots to recommend it and my bookshelves wouldn't be the same without it. Will I buy the reprints? Probably not as I ...

Re: Stan Lee has died.
Sometimes a controversial figure, but always the greatest showman in the world of comics. He'll be missed.

Re: Crikey! is back
What level of research do you expect? Picking one issue at random I'd expect... an article about Tornado not to confuse artists Ian Kennedy and Cam Kennedy. I'd expect the same article not to call Victor Drago "Holmesian" but instead mention that he was originally going to be Sexton Blake. I'd expe...

Re: Crikey! is back
If you are looking for a "Steve Holland type" research and background of titles, yes you may be disappointed. However what you do get is a wonderfully produced magazine with loads of illustrations and some superb interviews from those within the comic industry past and present (one that springs to ...

Re: Crikey! is back
I always found Crikey to be slightly disappointing. I felt the level of research could be a bit lacking. I remember one issue had an article on Captain Hurricane from Valiant that completely failed to mention his trademark "raging fury"! All the articles were written by freelancers, most of them un...

Went into WH Smiths and picked up Striker issue 7 and Rebellion's Sniper Elite issue 3 (featuring the Rat Pack from Battle). And Comic Scene issue 3 arrived in the post!

Re: Striker Returns!
Surprised there's not more coverage of this on the forum. Overall, I like it but I would agree it needs more strip content and less features. It's a little slim story-wise for a £2.70 weekly spend. It seems a lot of readers felt the same, so Pete Nash has acted accordingly. As of issue #6, the stor...

Doctor Who Magazine #530, with a very well done resolution to the last ongoing twelfth Doctor comic strip...including the long awaited return of Shayde from the old Doctor Who Monthly strips.

Striker Returns!
Just picked up the first issue of Pete Nash's revived Striker comic, and I thoroughy enjoyed it. Not sure how long it'll last though; I gather the crowdfunding campaign has guaranteed at least twelve weekly issues, but there's no guarantee it'll have found a viable audience by then. Here's hoping. A...

Re: The Vigilant, - new comic from Rebellion
Hi everyone, So I picked this up the other day and was reasonably excited to read it. I gave it a shot, but I really, really, really didn't like the direction of travel Rebellion has set for these legacy characters. What had originally made these characters popular wasn't there aping of the america...

Re: The Vigilant, - new comic from Rebellion
I'll have to re read it too as couldn't read the red on black writing at all and thought it was a bit mish mash or jumbled mess so i'm gonna re read the scream /misty story again then this but i did love the fact Max was in it and Blake Edmunds felt like 80's Eagle for a bit. Because that is what s...

Von Hoffman's Invasion
Received a nice surprise in the post a few days ago: my prize for getting a letter printed in the Judge Dredd Megazine was a free copy of the new collected edition of Von Hoffman's Invasion from Jet (and later Buster). Absolutely wonderful stuff from Tom Tully and Eric Bradbury. There's a link here ...
