Re: Most successful ever British comics creator?

Even then some artists, like Bisley etc, were being paid £7-10k a cover - that's good money for a few days work. Who paid him that, and for the cover of what? I don't know, but in an interview in Blast comic in '91 he was bragging that he was spending a grand a week or so on petrol for his sports c...

Re: Most successful ever British comics creator?

Now I think about it, our highest earning funny book creator could well be Scotland's Mark Millar. I gather there are a lot of movie options on his comics, some of which he has sold merely through the mention he's only toying with the idea of writing as a comic (eg 'Chronoauts'). Re: Most successful ever British comics creator?

Mills certainly is highly prolific, but these days 2000AD is surely only a marginal earner. Maybe his recent European work has high circulation, certainly hope so, as I'm a fan despite his exposition-heavy dialogue. Kings Features Syndicate probably has the widest reach in terms of Syndication, I'm ...

Most successful ever British comics creator?

Does anyone know who's made the most moolah in the UK from his or her comic strip creations? Most UK comics fans have probably heard of Hergé, Charles M. Schulz and, uh, the guys who created Asterix, the big hitters of overseas. But who on this sceptred isle has pocketed the most benjamins? I suspec...
