Re: Pecking order at D.C Thompson.

I certainly knew when reading Sparky through 1969 when I was 14 going on 15, that the "Sparky People" strip was pure fantasy! Could you imagine any Editor truly behaving in such a way in those days of ultra strong unions!! Drawn by Jim Petrie, the art teacher who also did Minnie the Minx at the tim...

Guess BeanoMAX is selling well enough, and they want a slice of the pie!

Re: Roy of the Rovers, Battle, Misty and Buster back on shelves

Why don't they do a monthly Classics From The Fleetway Comics? Identical format to Thomson's reprint mag, but with Fleetway/IPC stories.

When I assume Barney Bulldog, another Bill Ritchie strip, took over.

Re: Sparky 1965 to 1973

Found the Sparky Book 1967 at my local YMCA charity shop last week! I assume it's teh first one. Only cost me 99p! :) It has the Moonsters on the cover, but the only other characters I recognised are those from other comics, i.e. Hungry Horace, Keyhole Kate, Freddy the Fearless Fly, Peter Piper, and...

Re: The Dandy 70th Coffee book will it happen?

The Beano Index previously appeared in The Beano Diaries, which is mentioned in the start of the Story So Far's version of the Index. Was there ever a Dandy Diaries I wonder? If not, it'll take Morris a bit longer to research a Dandy History than it did for the Beano one, at least, for the time befo...

That's a problem which might affect BeanoMAX one day as well. I wonder if that'll ever just become Max?

Re: The shrinking Dandy Masterhead

Looks like he's pretending to be a Jedi! That is the idea, right? As for The Dandy Annual, I wonder if there'll even be one this year, given the declining number of comic strips in the comic? Last year, Beryl the Peril and Bananaman were drawn by Steve Bright, who no longer works for DCT, and Brassn...

Re: Februarys Issue No.155 another good Issue.

Just like Classics says, not PC. No wonder it didn't last long, it's racist! Don't forget, Peanut had already been axed from Beano's masthead when Biffo took over the cover. I guess Pom-pom will never actually be seen in Classics. Sigh. Did anyone see the Dashalong Dot stories in the same Classic Ar...

Re: If I were a kid I'd love Dandy Xtreme

Sounds like they asked Nick Park about putting W&G in Max when he guest-edited The Beano last year. The artist was already drawing Dennis for the weekly Beano, so the only likely snag would have been Titan - surely the strip in BeanoMAX would give the impression that the Wallace & Gromit Comic was n...

Re: JACKIE special out now - see advert.

I hope it's the second of many. They could do Dandy, Bunty, the Big 5 boys comics, Victor, Beezer, Topper... there's lots of famous DC Thomson comics they could cover. Of course, Jackie has had "Best Of" annuals out for the last three years, the popularity of which probably prompted the creation of ...

Re: Lord Snooty is back!! (well sort of...)

Aunt Vicki being her equilvalent in Lord Snooty III's strip. She's only appeared once though, ordering our Lord to take a bath after he got literally covered in mud! Both Snooty's being lookedafter by an aunt indicates that they are orphans, so although never mentioned, the likelihood is I'm right. ...

Re: The "Posh" (and over-expensive) Beano

I'd rather they just charged the usual £1.25 instead of hiking the price! My point is, they should offer the same stuff (i.e. pages and gifts) as Dandy Xtreme does if they're going to charge the same money. You're right though, as an adult reader (I've been collecting Beanos since 1995) I usually j...
