Re: Identify the artist? (Original Art)

It's Enid Blyton's The Island of Adventure. How interesting. I wonder where it was going to see print and why it didn't?

I also enjoyed the way they changed the lettering with each new Sexton Blake story in Valiant.

Re: Live action Dennis?

Yes, it's Young Adult. The BBC Doctor Who spin-off Class was an example of targeting the YA audience. It's basically stories about teens aimed at teens, although I believe there is also a sizeable adult audience/readership.

Re: Looking for mystery/detective quiz short comics or comic strips

Eagle's Can You Catch a Crook? might fit the bill. It started out as a standard strip called Sergeant Bruce, C.I.D. but in Vol. 13 no. 43 (27/10/62) it was revamped. initially it ran to three pages and the reader would be prompted at various points to see if they could find a clue. A text box at the...

Re: Asterix in Valiant

Of course, this wasn't the first time Uderzo's art had graced the pages of Valiant. The first two Belloy stories had appeared as Paladin the Fearless. "Chevalier Sans Armure" was in issues 1 - 20 and "La Princesse Captive" in issues 21 - 43.

That Wikipedia quote was written by your truly! They got through the whole story in one page per week. As an example of how they edited it, here's a comparison of the last two pages of the original and how they appeared in Valiant: https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FtDf8XF21K0/XsFpeC6jYyI/AAAAAAAADac/SnPsj...

The only one I've seen is the Ranger Book 1967. It has page 34 of Asterix and the Big Fight featuring a fun fair.

Re: Dick Turpin

Dick Turpin had several runs in Knockout . The first was in 1948 ( Dick Turpin's Ride to York drawn by D C Eyles) with another in 1949/50 ( Breed of the Brudenels by H M Brock). There was also a short run in 1962, possibly just a single story, Dick Turpin and the Cavern of Monsters . In this story, ...
