1st issue of Buster very impressive. :)

Can I be cheeky (weekly) and ask how much that cost?

Not today but it in the last week I got a book, which is a sort of History of Film Fun, written in the mid 1980s. I'm not really a fan of film fun, but I find the history of comics and old comic collecting culture interesting. The books says that copies of issue 1 of Film Fun (from 1920) can go for £200. Which using an online inflation calculator I think would be just under £550 in today's money. I wonder how much it would really go for. Maybe I'm wrong but I dont think Film Fun is as collectable as it was.
Back to Buster and its literally the last word (excluding the index) in this Film Fun book. It describes it as a "cheeky newcomer".

I have a copy of Film Fun #1 and Buster #1. I’d better not tell my Mrs what you think the FF #1 is worth! 🤣

Well all I will say is that it was a lot more than 4d - even factoring inflation in!

I bought a copy of the 1st Buster comic back in the year 2000 and over the next 12 years collected hundreds more Busters with dates ranging from 1960-1981 and sold them all in 2012. I started collecting them again back in 2019 and now have 387 Busters from 1960-1981.

Here's my two pages of Hugh Morren Dandy comic art as promised. Nice too. Hoping in the future to obtain both comics No.809 from 1957 and No.849 from 1958 that featured the artwork. :)

PS. Here's the link to my Hugh Morren art listed on the site. [url]viewtopic.php?f=127&t=7995[url]

How did you know which issues the art was from?

On the back of the art says the issue numbers. 🙂

I wonder if these originally came from the Pete Hansen collection. As he had a lot of these which I catalogued and dated for him. He also had a lot of Keyhole Kates by Allan Morley one of which turned out to be her first appearance in the Dandy in 1937 which had been colourists and reprinted in 1950.

Today I received 'Buster's book of Flying Aces' complete with all cards which was originally given away free with 4 cards in the 12th of May 1962 issue. Buster comics 19th of May and 26th May 1962 had another 4 cards each to make up the complete set of 12 cards.

Kashgar, to be honest I don't know? I obtained my first Hugh Morren page from a collector who initially had the page featured on a well known comic art website which I myself use before selling it at auction. Not sure what his name was? Coincidentally, that page had the issue number written on the back too. I bought the two recent pages featured from a different seller but noticed they also had the issue numbers written on the back too which was really helpful in my quest to marry the art with comics. Interesting though if that's the case that the art might have passed through your hands. 🙂

Bought four 1950s Dandy comics. Had to have them due to their condition being FN. Got a Christmas Dandy no.631 1953, Dandy no.626 1953, Dandy no.627 1953 and finally a Dandy no.630 also from 1953. 🙂
