Bought myself a snow-capped Beano comic no.274 from the 29th of December 1945 in VG+ condition.
Absolutely incredible find
Thanks jim224. Yeah, got now quite a few snowcapped Beano & Dandy comics now. You can see them if you scroll back far enough on this thread. I'm lucky to have the first Dandy snowcapped comic from 1938. Harder to obtain now are the Beano snowcapped for obvious reasons. This comic is in nice order considering its age.

Weeks have gone by without me adding to my collection.
There have been a few nearly buys like 1957 Rover annual at £4 but not much else.
One of the charity shops I visited a few weeks ago had some cowboy comics I liked at £8 each but as a poundland type collector I decided to leave them for others.to buy.
Today however a few that were left were reduced to £2 each and now I had no hesitation in spending £4 to buy a couple as shown.
My apologies Kashgar and thanks for setting the record straight.I simply knew that there were a lot of them!!!
So did SID get all 2307 issues or was SID referring to a particular run?

Into The Abyss,I look forward to viewing more of your collection when I do scroll back on this thread, probably this Saturday.
Absolutely love snowcapped classics and fantastic that you have that Dandy 1938 issue.
Issue number 53?
Thought I'd share this recent purchase. As you are aware I normally collect & upload early Beano & Dandy issues from the 1940s and 30s, but my brother got me this christmas Beano no.1484 from 1970 as a surprise because of the iconic cover. And If my memory serves me correctly wasn't this issue voted the best cover ever by fans? Yes, I think it was. So cool!

Brilliant and yes one of the most famous covers of all time in the UK !!

Thanks jim244 for confirming that info about the cover. Would have felt a right plonker if I was wrong. Wonder who owns the art to that 1970 Christmas front cover? Wsh I did.
And I forgot that the 1938 Dandy had a fruity lolly as a free gift. But I think after 85 years it would be a tad fluffy by now, lol.

Wow what a beautiful cover! Absolutely stunning colours- it looks like it’s glowing! Who’s the artist - David Sutherland?
I’d be interested to hear what people think are the best comic covers of all time? For me Wham #21 (the 1964 fireworks issue) must be up there. By Leo Baxendale of course. I don’t own it but I’d love to get a print. What else?

Thanks. The issue is in fine - minus condition. A good solid copy. But I agree there are some superb covers from the Beano & Dandy comics besides this one. I suppose this one in particular by the late David Sutherland ticks all the boxes. Love also the summer special covers too.
Talking about iconic cover art from other comics like the superb Wham firework issue uploaded. I myself own the cover art from the 1982 Jackpot annual by Sid Burgon featuring Father Christmas bouncing on the moon giving aliens presents, lol. It on the website if you want to check it out.

Perhaps D.C Thompson own the art?? Artist ....David Law or David Sutherland???
The lolly probably would have dissolved by now,as I believe sugar does such over a long period of time but I still want to know what flavour it was !!!
Into the Abyss, you have a fantastic collection Sir.
