Help identifying an old story
Help identifying an old story
I believe this will be rather easy. The Greek title translates "A boy goes to war", although I 'm not certain if it 's an exact translation of the original. So I 'm looking for the English title of the story, which magazine it was published in, and if possible which year. The name of the kid soldier is Danny Duggan (I hope I 'm writing the last name correctly). Thank you in advance...

Think this was called 'The Boy Who went to War' and I think it appeared in Valiant.
I'll check.

Re: Help identifying an old story
Yes, it's a superbly illustrated strip that ran in Valiant in 1975. I think it started in May that year.

Well remembered you two.
It first appeared in Valiant in the 26th April 1975 Issue.

Re: Help identifying an old story
I thought it may have been end of April - I'm missing a few issues from late April/May.
Can anyone name the artist?

Thanks for that, Lew; the very chap who drew the 1972 strip Buffalo Boy, which I liked, in The Hornet, and, I think, The Lincoln Green Mob, also for Valiant.
There were some beautifully drawn instalments of The Boy Who Went to War.
Re: Help identifying an old story
Another mystery solved. Cheers everybody...
Re: Help identifying an old story
'The Boy Who Went to War' did indeed begin in Valiant dated 26th Apr 1975 and ended in issue dated 18th Oct 1975 and Felix Carrion is certainly the artist. He was very busy in British comics in the 1970's doing stuff for both Thomson's and IPC.
Re: Help identifying an old story
OK, another search. The title in Greek is Mister Riddle but I don 't think that it 's the English title of the story as well. What is the English title and who is the artist? I don 't need specific details like issue number or anything like that, I 'm not going to buy any old magazines. Thanks in advance...

The English title is Pursuit of the Puzzler - from Whizzer and Chips, 1972, artist possibly Mike White.

Reprinted in Greece by "Agori" mag twice, under the titles "Μίστερ Γρίφος" ("Mr. Grifos") & "Η Επιστροφή του Γρίφου" ("The Returnig of Grifos").
Greetings to you all, from Athens, Greece.
All the best
