I've just won this little lot on Ebay as I'd never come across the Plane Tree series. Compal sold a few 3 years ago but that's all I've seen so far. There's nothing on GCD so they may be text comics. They seem to be from the 1940s.
Does anyone know anything about them please?

I know about the Wizard free gift but I have not got a clue about the rest!

It looks as if no one else knows much about this series either!
I'll post some more pictures over the next few days and I'm probably seeing Malcom Phillips this week so I'll see if he can shed any light on them for me.

Some close up pictures. The comic is tiny, say 4 inches x 2.5 inches ish.

Re: Plane Tree Series
Malcom did indeed shine some light on these. "Mostly sold by Woolworth's at 3d each, these booklets helped distract children in air-raid shelters and underground stations during bombing raids over London. Consequently they became known as 'Blitz' books and are scarce. The 3d price was subsidised by Kiwi, Saxa Salt, Bisto and Paxo who advertised on some of the back covers "

Re: Plane Tree Series
Now the question is whether the phrase jungle drums comes from that book or pre-dates it?
