[Pedant] Technically that's (part of) the Captain Marvel logo, first used on #22 which was on sale in June 1972. [/Pedant]

I noticed that (plus that she is at the top of the cover). Is that because Captain Marvel is supposed to be the figurehead of Marvel comics like she will be in the films?Robbie Moubert wrote:[Pedant] Technically that's (part of) the Captain Marvel logo, first used on #22 which was on sale in June 1972. Al Ewing's the main writer. He's British, so it's highly likely MWOM is the reason he used that logo, even if it was used somewhere else first.

Why would you assume the writer gets to choose the logo? I'm not saying he didn't - I don't know - but I'd have thought it more likely it was the art department.
Re: Marvel Comics #1000 announced
It would be up to to the editors, but there's nothing stopping him making a suggestion. They could've been lazy and just used the company logo! There's actually a version that has the word Marvel from the current logo and Comics from the 90s one, used on some merchandise.
