Just take a look at Valiant's 27th August 1966's cover.

Imagine how easy it would have been to turn it into a comic strip and Mike Western would have made a good artist for it too. Ro-Busters 11 years earlier. :D

This is one of the "It Could Happen" cover that actually seems plausible, although experimental robots designed for disaster areas aren't usually humanoid in shape.
