Anyone recognize the artist behind this signature?
Anyone recognize the artist behind this signature?
In the late 1960's to 1980's the Swedish comic publisher Semic produced a "The Saint" comic for their "Helgonet" (The Saint's swedish name) comic book. Authors and artists that were used come from all of europe.
In the 1970's there was an artist that was very productive and I was wondering if anyone recognize his signature below?

Ok, so I'll try this one (some four years later).

Sir-L:
-- do try again with the same question in 2016, I do hope your request comes up dividends, either now or then, but if no joi:
-----well, there's always 202O-------and beyond.

Sir-L, as we are drawing a blank, can I suggest you post a page of his work just in case? It's looking unlikely, though.

Anyone recognize the signature, or the art style?

Re: Anyone recognize the artist behind this signature?
I am afraid this one is still a mystery, Sir L, despite the high quality and obvious talent of the artist involved.
This thread is approaching a decade since it started and something tells me it is not over yet!
Maybe someone on one of the buff-enthusiast sites [on the subject of ITC shows] might know?

I like your persistence, Sir L!
jintycomic.wordpress.com/ Excellent and weird stories from the past - with amazing art to boot.
Re: Anyone recognize the artist behind this signature?
Four more years have passed and I still have no clue who this artist is.
Anyone?
(I know I'm three month early, but it's different times so I thought I might as well jump the gun on this one. )

Wonder if the art is by Martin Salvador. His work looks very similar.
Well, hello there!

Yes, it might be. I found two samples of his artwork, one for the same series ("The Saint") and another with a different signature, though...Into The Abyss wrote: ↑22 Jul 2020, 04:28Wonder if the art is by Martin Salvador. His work looks very similar.

I agree. Although I initially drew a blank trying to find a match for the signature, did notice Salvador's work looked very close to the page above.
And as you know, artists do change their style, bit like how our signatures change over time, so could explain the subtle differences in his work over the years active, I think.

Sorry for late reply, didn't see this until now.Nick_the_Greek wrote: ↑22 Jul 2020, 06:15Yes, it might be. Yes, I agree they are similar. Allthough this artist and Martin Salvador appeared side by side in the swedish "Hegonet" so I don't think they are the same.
Did Salvador have an assistant? Or anyone whom been influenced by him?
Re: Anyone recognize the artist behind this signature?
Got an answer from a former editor of the Swedish Helgonet. Even though he only worked there for a couple of years he had some recollection. Though he did not know who the artist was, he said that they commissioned the art from the Spanish art agency Selecciones Ilustradas.
And he too saw the likeness with Martin Salvador but said that's most likely the artist was either ordered to, or trying to, draw in the style of Salvador.
Salvador stuck out as one of the best artists that worked for the agency. Other times they had to send the pages back cause they were so bad.

Hello Sir-L,
A potential help from the other side of the Channel :
Investigate on Joan Aliu Puig. Coming from a little town about 50 miles from Barcelona, I expect potential contacts with the SI team, and why not Martin Salvador.
For the fun, the art from Helgonet has been translated in France for two "Le Saint" Series. You can find some data at www.dlgdl.com/GENPAGES/DSE_CSA2.HTM or same with SA3 ... including an Helgonet scan ...
