I was at the funeral on Tuesday - it was primarily family and friends, with many present and former Beano and Dandy staff who had written for him.

There was a collage of photographs, and every single one of David as an adult had the same sparkly smile. Apparently the only time he was grumpy on camera was in a 1980s documentary when he had to abandon his art board to show people round the Meadowside offices.
