About Spanish artists in UK Nadal, Rafart Buster etc...

Post by Antoniomn »

Hello.
First of all greetings and comment I don't know if this is the right thread where to write this.
This week I have been consulting British websites have found mistakes and doubts about Spanish authors who worked there.
I also have lots of doubts and knowledge and would like to share

ÁNGEL NADAL QUIRCH

I know Nadal draws Buster, Professor Nutcase, Penny Pincher, Big Ead, Blarney Bluffer, Uppsy Daisy, Ug and Tug, The Nuts, Lazy Sprocket, Norman Knowall

Exist more comic characters of the author in UK?
Is possible send me an image for Big Ead? I never see one.
Nadal draws Milkiway the man from Mars? I only have Juan Rafart pages.

I upload Three inputs in my Blog on Nadal work.

1st part (spanish period)

http://tebeosytebeos.blogspot.com.es/2013/08/nadal.html

2nd part(spanish period)

http://tebeosytebeos.blogspot.com.es/20 ... da_10.html

3rd part(UK,Disney, Germany...)

An Nadal artwork exhibition is planned in Comic Museum Massana (Andorra) maybe in September or October 2013. I'm not sure about the content and dates, here almost no information. I'll go to the exposition to take pictures and info.

Nadal now is doing custom drawings

Hi Antoniomn,

Here's an example of Juan Rafart's version of Hancock, followed by a page of 'Lord Harry' from the comic Lion.

Incidentally, I think Rafart may have also drawn the series 'Messy Schmidt' for Tiger (even though I've seen it credited to Nobby Clarke elsewhere). If you like I could post a scan of that as well.

In 1974 another artist drew Clobber, right?

Why the artists don't sign the pages?

Do you know if he also drew the series 'Nosey Parker', which replaced Messy in Tiger at the beginning of 1965?

Yes, this page (Tiger, 551) looks like Rafart

Image

But this page (Tiger, 616) isn't by Rafart.

And, do you know about the artist of Space Age Kit?

'Space-Age Kit' - which seemed to be partially inspired by Wally Wood's 1950s science fiction art for EC - originally appeared in Knockout during 1960. Unfortunately the artist isn't credited in the Knockout Index but I've always thought it had a 'continental' feel (as does that other 'Nosey Parker' example). Do you have any theories on who it could have been drawn by Antonionm?

'Our Ernie' was another Knockout character who was drawn by almost everyone under the sun at one time or another. I could be wrong but the style of this particular episode from June 1957 strikes me as being quite 'European'.

...Do you think that could be Schmidt/Gomez or somebody similar?
