Re: Mike Western
Very nice Richard S. Ask a silly question. Are you a big fan of this artist or did you buy one or two water colours and before you knew it became a collection over time?
Personally speaking, I love anything to do with the sea or ocean. A few years back bought a nice oil on board seascape painting of a stormy sea by a well-known American artist. Can't recall the artist name sadly to my shame?
Anyway, the painting I own featured one or two seagulls flying in grey sky, sea boiling, waves breaking. And although likely somewhere off America no recognisable landmarks were visible so in reality it could be anywhere in the world. To me it was reminiscent of the Gower Peninsular. Love it.

I only own a few of these images - the rest are items I've seen for sale (or have found via Google searches). But I am a BIG fan of the artist.

Good to know Richard S. Yeah, I suppose obtaining art from a celebrated artist comes at a premium. The painting I bought was quite reasonably priced. A steal in fact. But I got it because I liked it rather than buying it as an investment. Always loved anything to do with the sea or ocean.Richard S. wrote: β04 Mar 2024, 20:50I only own a few of these images - the rest are items I've seen for sale (or have found via Google searches). Re: Mike Western
thanks very much - yes, it's an interesting insight into his art and very different from his black & white artwork.jim244 wrote: β10 Mar 2024, 04:56Fascinating Richard S,I never knew the Valiant artist did these water colours, great post.Richard S. wrote: β03 Mar 2024, 07:45I've added another of Mike Western's watercolours (painted in later life) to my gallery of such things, this one is called 'Corn Dolly'
