Help finding a comic

I know it's a long shot, but I'd appreciate any help, on the off chance that someone can remember the story.

I am trying to find a comic published I think some time in the late 80s/90s. It can't have been after 2005 and I remember it had the Gill Sans font so that cuts out the 70s. It was not illustrated by McLoughlin, Ridgway, Jorge or Livingstone.
It was set in WW2 (definitely not the Far East theatre) and was about a young army lieutenant clashing with a staff officer. I remember particularly a frame with 'Working on the staff has shown me that it's team work right the way down the line', and part where they go on a recce patrol and the LT sees that the staff officer is ok in the field.

After a search through the Commando Comics wiki on Fandom I think it may have been Up From the Ranks, but can't be sure.
