Mate, living in Kingston I can't even get fish 'n' chips for that so sounds like a bargain.
And curry sauce £2.50

I saw that article. I've only had pie and mash twice since my local shop shut in January 2025.

And I still haven't gone to that place you mentioned to me that is close, I'm a terrible South Londoner, sorry your place shut.

Just out of interest why don't you like pies Into The Abyss ?? :o :o
I must admit, I don't have any similar restaurants in my area although Steve Zodiac did point out that there is one not far away.
Tonight I cooked for me and my wife 2 bought in steak pukka pies with marrowfat peas, mash I made myself (as I'm actually a Chef I should have made the pies myself also but they were excellent and I am lazy!!) with gravy.
Steve would not be happy with that (guessing) as should be liquer (parsley sauce at a lot of places ,although the authentic ones still use eel stock).

Same here jim244. No dedicated shops or restaurants where I live other than the usual roadside café. Depends what sort of pies there are. I'm a vegetarian see. And even then I'm not a great pie eater. Cheese & spring onion maybe? No judgment on anyone that eats meat. Just my choice. Love those London pie & mash shops though, and how they put a slab of fluffy mash, large pie, floating in a moat of parsley sauce, on a platter-sized plate. :D

Nothing wrong with being a vegetarian mate, I tried myself but only lasted 6 months !!
Steve himself has posted that he eats a lot of vegetarian stuff now.
As for pies: I love the soy mince ones as opposed to actual pies with vegetables in them, when I go for a vegetarian option !!!
Thanks for a great post and I love the "no judgement" thing because these days too many people are very judgmental on everything ,while I personally will go for a steak pie or mince beef pie (or soya mince pie) I have no judgement against those that believe chicken and mushroom in a pie is a good thing.
ITS INSANE but I don't judge those who think otherwise !!!!

Yeah, know what you mean jim244 lol. I've been a Veggie for 33 years. And even when I ate meat, only had the odd mince & onion pie that I used to dip my chips in from the local takeaway. :D
