No 'honours degree' on my part, Al, but I reckon I am a match for the Oxbridge Mafia when it comes to discussing Comics History---are as many others on here.
You don't need a qualification to prove your enthusiasm for this subject.

Unfortunately, Rab, the university is not looking for an enthusiast. In fact, if my reading of the advert is correct, they are looking to recruit someone who is already working in the same area of expertise in a different university, and who is looking for a promotion. The responsibilities of the successful applicant are very precise, in particular the tasks that he/she will need to develop on their own, and it is clear that a good honours degree on its own will not even get the applicant an interview because they will already need to be teaching within the required subject area at postgraduate level, which means guiding the research work of graduates towards an MA or a PhD.ISPYSHHHGUY wrote:No 'honours degree' on my part, Al, but I reckon I am a match for the Oxbridge Mafia when it comes to discussing Comics History---are as many others on here. OK Phoenix: I wish those with a lack of enthusiasm all the best in securing this post.

When I said that the university is not looking for an enthusiast, I meant that enthusiasm on its own would not be enough. All the postgraduates invited for an interview will be bubbling over with enthusiasm about comics and graphic novels etc.ISPYSHHHGUY wrote:OK Phoenix: I wish those with a lack of enthusiasm all the best in securing this post.

You should have made it obvious that your views on being non-enthusiastic were satirical, Rab.
